Woman asked her young son to film her best friend’s proposal — his mid-video comment about the queer couple had everyone cracking up
Kids will never fail to speak their minds. Instagram user Kiera Mary's (@kieramcginnity) best friend was proposing to her partner when Mary's son was recording the moment. However, midway through filming, the little boy said something that caught everyone off guard. He was standing next to his sister, reacting to the engagement, and his comment has since been loved by internet users. Sharing the hilarious video with her Instagram followers on October 29, 2025, Mary revealed how her son's instant reaction left everyone in stitches.
Mary's queer best friends were in the middle of a proposal, with one partner popping the question to her girlfriend. Mary, who was in charge of the photography, asked her young son to film a video while she clicked pictures of the heartfelt moment. In the video, the little boy can be heard saying, "That's so crazy," as his sister agreed, "That's so cute," but then, as the couple kissed, he immediately added, "They're gay." The couple and the people around burst out laughing, as the little boy was unfazed. Mary, who shared the video with her followers, wrote, "This was too good not to share on the feed."
Despite the reaction, the kid proceeded to say, "That's crazy," and his response was met with approval from everyone present. Research by Harvard University noted that children get their brutal honesty through trust built by adults around them. The study highlighted that children who were given an opportunity to be themselves often leaned toward honesty and hardly cheated or lied.
According to the study, "Children understand the value of trust and are willing to behave more honestly in response to feeling trusted by others." The little boy was able to express his honest reaction and wasn't judged by the adults surrounding him. The couple, too, did not appear offended by the boy's statement and took it in good spirits.

Her sons immediately listed "big brown feet," "Tesla Cybertruck shoes," "big nose," and "short eyelashes" as part of the description. The mother, stumped by the response, could not hold back her laughter. The boys' brutal honesty left the mother cackling.
