Woman bumps into a stranger at a mall while looking for her car — the internet is obsessed with the 'meet-cute'

Meeting a stranger and feeling an instant connection is something we often watch in movies. But a woman got to live that magical feeling after she bumped into a stranger while looking for her car in a mall parking lot. The two ended up spending a long time together and loved being with each other. Even though she was unsure if it would lead to something serious, she was glad that she got to have such a great time at such an unexpected place. The 28-year-old woman–who goes by u/HikingGirl01 on Reddit–shared the entire incident on the platform.

The woman drove to a shopping mall a few hours from her house and ended up having the "most lovely day." She was trying to find the car park once she was done shopping, but couldn't find her car. "There were no signs, and no one seemed to be able to help." At that time, she walked past a guy who saw that she was lost. He reassured her they would find the car park together, and she felt it was "very sweet." They were walking, chatting and around together and eventually found the car park. "We were having a really nice chat, and he asked me if he could take me for a coffee, one thing led to another and we ended up spending the whole evening together playing pool, mini golf, darts, beer pong and the arcades."
The strangers sat at a bar chatting with each other until 1 am, and the woman didn't want the day to end. "He walked me back to my car and kissed me," she recounted. She didn't get home until the early hours of the morning after driving home so late that day. They swapped numbers and messaged a few times, but the woman felt it wouldn't lead to anything as they lived so far from each other. "But it was such a lovely date and so refreshing to meet someone in person rather than through an app!" She woke up the next morning and saw the strip of photos the two of them took together at a photo booth, and it reminded her that "life can be so unintentionally wholesome sometimes." In an update, she shared that they had been talking and were planning to meet again.
People shared their thoughts on the incident in the comments. u/Weekly-Commercial-29 wrote, "My wife and I dated long distance for a couple of years when we first started dating, about 200 miles. Just celebrated our 20th anniversary. Don’t let a little distance get in the way." u/OhGod0fHangovers commented, "I love reading stories like this. My husband and I lived an hour and a half apart for eight years at the start of our relationship (first he went away for two years for his military service, then I was away for six years for my studies). We took turns making the trip every weekend. Just celebrated 25 years in January, 15th wedding anniversary is coming up in May. It was rough at times, but worth it."

u/organic_soursop remarked, "This is a movie-level meet-cute! Our role here is the bitter old friends, who dissuade you from meeting up again, so that when you do see him again in 10 years, this time with a wife and children, he can wave at you and you can look all wistful. You silly billy, get on the phone, see him this evening!"
