Looking back on the incident, Avery said his wife thought the whole situation must have been awkward after he told her about the unexpected call. However, he never saw it that way. Instead, he laughed and replied, "Awkward for who? I won. It was like a post-game press conference." He explained that speaking to her ex on the day they were getting married only made him feel more confident because he knew he was the one starting a new chapter with her.
