Woman decided to test dogs’ love by pretending to faint — their contradictory responses have us in stitches

Dogs are one of the most alert pets out there. They can sense, sniff and understand a lot about their environment and people through instinct and observation. When it comes to their owner, dogs often pay attention and look out to protect their pet parent. A woman named Taylor (@themucciofamily) wanted to test the depth of this theory with her two dogs. The woman has a chihuahua named Taco and a larger German Shepherd named Stitch, per Newsweek. She decided to fake fainting to see whether her dogs would really come to her aid. No one was prepared for their hysterically opposing reactions.

Dogs have a fabulous capacity to understand humans and their environment, especially their owner, according to Pet MD. They can detect physiological changes in their pet parents and can also figure out if something is wrong through sniffing, listening to breathing patterns and other tactics. It was also noted that dogs might be able to sense seizures, illnesses and more due to the changes it brings to the body beforehand. Change in the color of a person, their emotions and feelings, heartbeats, expressions and more can denote that there is something untoward to follow.

Taylor hoped that her dogs would sense something was wrong when she collapsed and show their love with their attention but she was in for a surprise. The woman had a burger in her hand and caught both her dogs off guard by pretending to faint. She lay still with the food in her hands and waited to see how the canines would react. Taco immediately got tensed and ran up to the woman’s hand and sniffed the burger in it. She then immediately ran over to Taylor’s other side and grabbed the half-eaten burger from her other hand and ran away with it. Earnest Stitch, on the other hand, was confused, trying to process what had happened.

The chihuahua rushed over to her bed and got engrossed in eating it. It’s almost as if she had not a care in the world as to what had happened to Taylor. Poor Stitch was still by the woman’s side, processing and assessing the situation. The canine didn’t touch the food, but didn’t move and do anything else either. The German Shepherd simply stared at Taylor. A few seconds later, it was visible that Stitch was starting to get worried. He looked around, even at the person recording, before fixing his gaze back on Taylor. When the woman moved her leg a little, the canine immediately looked at her, trying to figure out if she was okay.

Taco made her way out of the scene in the most hysterical and unfazed manner. As soon as Taylor pretended to collapse, the chihuahua’s goal was to get her hands on the burger and comfortably fill her tummy and no, she did not look back. People were baffled by the stark difference between the two pets. Many, as fellow pet parents, understood well how some dogs are just lovers of their own lives first. Others commended Stitch for his loyalty. @mothersarahrah said, “The chihuahua said, ‘If you’re dead, you won’t be needing this.’” @msindi100 joked, “That little one ain’t loyal. Sleep with one eye open with that one.” @yellagurl.0 wrote, “That big one hoping you get up.” @sassyashhole remarked, “What a sweet big baby.”
