Woman getting ripped off by mechanics asks Uber driver to act like 'my dad'—his response is so iconic

The world can easily take you for a ride if you are not aware and vigilant. Having someone support you through it can often be helpful. A woman named Catalina, who goes by @catalinamascochina on TikTok, revealed that she, too, was getting ripped off by a mechanic after sending her car for services. Catalina asked the driver to pose as her dad in an impromptu situation and the man obliged and delivered a brilliant performance that won the internet. She was in the Uber and an elderly man was assigned to drive her. She was on her way to the garage in the Uber and shared with him what the mechanics were charging her.

“POV: You tell your Uber driver that the mechanics are trying to charge you for a bunch of sh**,” she wrote in the text overlay. She was engaged in an inaudible conversation with the man. The driver was sharing his knowledge and explaining to her how mechanics can often rip you off if you’re not alert and know how things work. “I know how these guys are,” the driver remarked. As they arrived at the garage, she made the impromptu decision to get him to tag along with her. Catalina requested the driver to pose as her dad and he gladly agreed to join the venture. He got out of the cab with Catalina and immediately got into his role.

Putting his hands on his hip like any other dad would, he showed that he meant business. Taking care of his passenger, the man walked towards her car and began to discuss with the mechanic about the problem. He even conducted a proper inspection, looking intently at the vehicle and the work done like a typical dad. The workers even tried to play the driver, but he knew what to do. Catalina immediately shut them off, ignored their unnecessary pitch and took control of the situation. Very quickly, he assured the mechanics that he’d work on the remaining seemingly unnecessary stuff later. He got way ahead in his role and even began to order his "daughter" assertively.

“Pay for it and let’s go,” he said, trying to finish as soon as possible. “His acting skills are a little too good because why is he yelling at me like a dad does?” Catalina remarked. After they were done and were out, ready to go their separate ways, she sarcastically said, “Thanks, dad.” “Don’t worry about it,” the driver ever so sweetly responded. Even Uber commented on the post, feeling really proud of their driver saving the day, “Thanks dad!” they wrote. @jessaboveaverage said, “He wasn’t acting, at that moment, you were his child.” @bobinsky added, “They should have a service like this for girls who don’t have dads so they can get their cars serviced worry-free.” @gabbiemcguire joked, “He activated dad mode and immediately got frustrated.” @yaquipv added, “He did all that and didn’t even have to. I love it when humans are so kind.”
