Woman kept bringing snacks to a homeless person living in her car — then one question turned the entire act of kindness around
There is a misconception that being kind is only possible when you have a lot to give. But even a person who seemingly has nothing can offer so much. A parenting coach named Pamela Palanza received this reassuring reminder after a meaningful conversation with a homeless woman. In a Facebook post dated September 15, 2026, shared under her handle, @pamela.palanza.244563, she mentioned that she had the habit of visiting a woman who lived in her car. She would take her simple snacks or beverages. After one casual exchange, the woman asked her something that stopped her in her tracks.
Out of kindness, Palanza would visit the homeless woman, chat with her for a bit, and sometimes even offer her a bite. She mentioned that the woman had mental health issues, seemed like she hadn’t brushed her hair in months, and was clearly struggling. As she always did, that day, too, she asked if she wanted anything from McDonald’s. The woman requested a vanilla milkshake. After bringing it to her and having a regular chat, Palanza checked if she needed anything else. Before she could leave, the woman turned around and asked, “Do you need anything?” The coach was stunned.
Here was an individual who seemed to have nothing, and yet she had the thought of asking whether she could help, even if only with a hug, a smile, or a word of encouragement. It reminded Palanza that you don’t need to be rich to be generous and selfless. The simple question was enough to bring her to tears. “There’s a lot of ugliness in the world, but there are some loving, kind, and wonderful people out there, and she’s one of them,” she remarked. That unexpected, simple sentiment touched her heart so much that she teared up even as she spoke about it in the video.

A mom and baby approached a homeless woman named Cali Jess who had been struggling herself. The mother requested that Jess give her some money, unaware of the homeless woman's situation.
Jess later learned that the woman had fled an abusive relationship. While she didn’t have cash, she offered something unexpected. She first gave the mom a gift card she had for a few snacks and drinks. She also gave her the WiFi password of a nearby store so she could contact someone for help. Later, she reassured the parent that everything would be fine. Her consoling words during that difficult moment meant far more than a few dollars. The duo went on their way after thanking the homeless woman, but they carried the lesson of her kindness with them for the rest of the journey.
