Woman left café after turning down job offer — fellow diner says she ‘dodged a bullet’ after hearing interviewers’ misogynistic remarks
A job interview can often reveal more about a workplace than a contract ever could. TikTok user Niki Detrich (@nikidetrich) recently shared a story after she witnessed a strange exchange between two interviewers and a woman at a coffee shop. The woman appeared calm, polite, and professional while discussing her decision to supposedly step away from a job opportunity. Detrich, who later shared the incident on April 25, 2026, explained that the tone of the men quickly changed once the woman walked away. She explained that the moment stayed with her because of the misogynistic and ruthless comments made thereafter.

According to her, the interviewee had calmly explained that she had "personal reasons" connected to her mother, due to which she declined the role. She handled the conversation respectfully while the two male interviewers listened. However, once she walked out, the men's demeanor instantly changed. “Doesn’t she know that she’s talking to two males who don’t care?” they remarked. The pair then laughed while making comments about the woman having “mommy issues.” Detrich also noticed that the men were dressed casually in gym clothes despite attending what appeared to be a formal meeting. "Girl, you dodged a bullet," she said.
The creator added that the behavior shocked her because the woman remained professional throughout the conversation, but the men immediately revealed their true colors after she left. Detrich admitted that she couldn't hear everything in detail and clarify what exactly the situation was. However, she described the conversation as “disgusting and misogynistic." Their attitude seemed like they never wanted the woman to work with them in the first place, and it was beyond unprofessional and disrespectful. Many people believe workplaces should reflect respect and maturity, especially during hiring discussions where trust matters from the beginning. However, reckless opinions and remarks from those representing the company, quickly affect the reputation of the latter.
The woman ended her video by encouraging the stranger to keep searching for a better opportunity and said she should be happy she was not “working with these losers.” Detrich also called her a "queen" for maintaining her professionalism and grace during the discussion. To many, this might seem like casual gossip, but there's nothing better than calling out misogyny and having the internet come to your support. And for Detrich, that's just what happened. Commenters applauded the woman for bringing to light the scenario. @sejeontk said, "Ma'am, on behalf of all women, we love you." @janicbbdwm added, "I love when women help other women they don't even know. I hope this reaches her." @chelseyr88 remarked, "This sounds like she dodged a bullet. She is a queen."
