Woman miles away from home spotted husband looking ‘dizzy’ from Ring camera — her quick response saved his life

No one ever wants to experience the horror of not being around for their loved ones when they’re in need. A woman and nurse named Anita escaped this worrisome reality after spotting her husband, Joey, on their Ring Camera. She was 125 miles away with her son Dallas when she saw her husband looking “dizzy” through the camera on her phone. Being away, she felt helpless but acted smartly and astutely to save his life. She is crediting the facility that helped her get alerted that her husband was struggling in the first place so she could intervene, even though far away.

The mother-son duo were in Dallas, while the dad was at his home in Gilmer, Texas. As she was having breakfast, Anita got a notification on her phone about someone outside their home. When she looked into the camera via her phone, she saw that her husband had stepped out to do his regular chores. The woman turned on the “Live” feature as a joke to talk to her husband in real time and just have a light-hearted conversation. As she watched and spoke with him, she realized he began to seem off. “Joey wasn’t responding in the way that we know him to respond,” the woman recalled.

Within seconds, things got serious. The man started holding his head in discomfort. “I started getting dizzy and then I just blacked out,” he recounted. Being a nurse, the woman was worried Joey might be having a heart attack as it runs in the family. She tried to speak to him but received no response after a while. Being so far away, it must have terrified the woman to wonder what happened to her loved one. She felt helpless but knew it was a saving grace that she was able to spot the event. As soon as she stopped getting a response, she called one of the neighbors, Debbie and her older son, Kodey.

Debbie arrived first and began checking on the man but still couldn’t retrieve a response. “When I got to Joey, at first, I thought he wasn’t breathing. I was trying to talk to him and then I finally saw his stomach move and I knew he was breathing,” the neighbor said. 911 was called immediately and Anita stayed on the Ring camera’s communication facility to answer any questions the paramedics had about Joey. She stuck through and ensured that though she was not physically present, she rendered all the help she could. He was quickly transported to the hospital and was eventually back home in a few days.

The family is crediting the Ring camera for alerting the woman due to which she was able to save her husband. “Where I fell, I could have laid there in the heat most of the day without being found,” Joey remarked. His wife added, “It was a phenomenal gift to be able to show that video to the neurologist and for us to have the understanding that he touched his head before he fell.” The mother and son both frequently check on the dad through the camera whenever required as a precaution.
