Woman ordered every item on a first date and left it untouched after getting drunk — her response when he asked to take it home stunned him

The man was being patient and gentle throughout, even though she got tipsy, but he knew he had to draw the line after her last remark.

Early dating can feel like a small gamble where two strangers are trying to read each other in real time. However, people also arrive with their own set of rules. While those are not always dealbreakers, they often raise the question of how far someone should push them. Davis Jourdan, who also goes by @davisjourdan, shared one such experience on April 6, 2026, when he went on a first date. Mentioning that he has a maximum two-drink rule for first dates, he first watched the woman guzzle nearly five, then order almost everything on the menu while barely eating any of it. He was not enjoying the night much, but felt better about the takeout he expected to bring home. Then came one demand that left him stunned.

Was I wrong for trying to take the food home?

Since the table wasn't ready when the duo arrived, they had to wait at the bar, where the woman already had two drinks. Once they were finally seated, Davis hoped the night might improve. Instead, she took over and began ordering nearly everything on the menu, so much so that he first thought she was joking. Soon, there were appetizers, a salad, multiple pastas, and two entrées on the table. She even kept ordering her drinks, one after the other, and soon got tipsy and giggly. When the food arrived, she barely ate any of it. After paying the bill, he kindly ordered her an Uber. But as she walked to the car, she grabbed every takeout bag. When he politely asked for some, she looked offended and snapped, “I can’t believe you’re trying to steal all my food.”

The date wasn't heading anywhere good, and with the woman going all out on the menu, he started to worry. His only redemption was a small upside: the leftovers, especially the pasta, which he said was amazing. However, even that wasn't on the cards for him. His date was adamant that he had his "half," and everything in that takeout bag was her share. The man explained that what he ate could barely be considered half. But in her state of intoxication, which was evident by the number of times she was hiccupping and giggling, there was no room to discuss or expect any positive outcome. The entire encounter left him with nothing more than confusion and a dating horror story.

The comment section had some hilarious takes on the whole event. However, the consensus was that the creator didn't do anything wrong, especially when Davis himself had asked the audience whether he was wrong in any sense. @tishdidthatt commented, "You know, you didn't do anything wrong, you were overly patient, overly kind, and overly generous." @BaltimorebwoDetroit wrote, "That wasn’t a date. She was there for dinner/drink and tomorrow's food." @MamaCi09 also said, "The only thing you did wrong was staying as long as you did."

Davis lastly shared that when he texted her to see if she reached home okay, the message was read, and he was blocked. In the end, first dates are rarely about perfect chemistry and often about the little things. How someone handles generosity or basic fairness can reveal more about them than a polished conversation ever could. For Davis, the night may have ended without leftovers, but it still gave him something useful: a clear reason not to schedule date number two.
