Woman shared a post about being lonely—a stranger’s response led to the most wholesome ‘date'

Taking chances at life leads to some of the most memorable and unique experiences. Whether it’s a friendship, a job, or even a trip, there is always something unexpected in store and if all goes well, it becomes a core memory. The catch is just this — we’ll never know until we take a chance. A man who goes by u/MeetArin87 on Reddit revealed that he took a chance and decided to text a random stranger after coming across her post on Reddit. The woman was feeling lonely after her friends moved abroad and in an impromptu hope, the man had an unexpected gesture in store.

“So this woman posted in my city sub that she’s been trying to find friends and how she’s been feeling lonely since most of her friends left the city,” the man mentioned. He added that he had initially offered suggestions and other comments to help until he eventually said that they could be friends too. The duo began texting each other and a few days later, it was Valentine’s Day. “I teased her about what she is doing on Valentine’s Day and she mentioned she has no plans and could meet,” the man recalled. He also joked about taking her out on a date.

“She said she could meet casually and not on a date. A few hours later, she wished me Happy Valentine’s Day and asked where I was taking her,” the post read. Realizing that the woman was serious about the offer, the man decided to take a chance and go ahead with their meeting. “The fear of being catfished or scammed crossed both of our minds and she said how she doesn’t want to be kidnapped,” the man noted. He added that despite these feelings, “something felt right” and he went ahead with the plan. When the time arrived, the duo finally met and had the time of their lives. The man took a lonely and dejected person and turned her day around with his thoughtfulness.

“2.5 hours spent in pure talks, banter and life. No flirting, no touches. It was so unadulterated,” he gladly said. “We admitted, neither of us have even done something as crazy as this and it turned out to be so good!” the post continued. The man ended up dropping her and is still grateful for the time spent. His kindness and spontaneous attitude to take a chance has gifted him with a new friend who he hopes to meet again soon. People appreciated the man’s gesture and how it turned out. u/Bna45443 wrote, “Whether this turns into a great friendship or something more, it’s already such a cool story to look back on.”
