There are often times when we do our best but we don’t think it could help anyone. You may have found times where you wanted to greet a stranger or share something with someone but you thought it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. We never realize the hundredfold impact the littlest heartfelt kindness can have. u/GoddessKillion shared that she too, wasn’t keen on doing something small yet selfless but she did it anyway. In return, she was rewarded with something that moved her to tears and made her day right when she needed it. The woman shared that she had kept a food pantry box for those in need. She returned to find a tear-jerking note that made everything worth it.

The woman wrote, “My grandad gives me these huge boxes of food from the food pantry he gets from church. They help me a lot as I’m in a little bit of a bind right now.” However, there were a lot of extras left and the woman didn’t need as much. “Instead of hoarding it, I put the remainder (I take one of everything I like) and put the rest in the box in our mailroom. I add to it when I get more stuff,” she explained. She wasn’t sure about how this plan would work out and just gave it a shot. She even wrote on the box, “Take what you need, Free.” She mentioned that she had no hopes of anyone benefiting much from the same. She just carried out a good deed that she thought was nothing.

“It’s been a few weeks that I’ve had it up and truthfully, I didn’t think anyone would get anything from it,” she wrote. When she went to the mailroom one day, she saw that someone had written a small message on the inside flap of the box. The note was from a person who needed that food thanking her for her kind help. “I go to get my mail and see this note. I cried. I’m crying now, actually,” she remarked. The note read, “Thank you so very much. You have no idea how badly I needed food.” The person further explained that their debit had been stolen and they had been “praying for food to eat.” Concluding their message, the person wrote, “God bless you as you have blessed me.”

That little note made what the woman thought was a bleak effort worth it all. She never imagined being a blessing to someone in such a fulfilling way. “I’ve been going through an extra hard time this week, but to be able to still help someone made me feel so so good,” she concluded. The appreciation she received was a reminder to never doubt doing good and do it anyway, no matter how small. There will always be someone in need of kindness. u/Athleteaspirant9 wrote, “The kindness you initiate makes me proud. I can believe that heroes exist and that there is still good in humanity. Even in the simplest way, a smile can make a difference.”u/bit_banger_ added, “This is beautiful! I will make it a point to donate as soon as I can.”
