Woman thought she'd found her forever person — until a sudden overnight change in her fiancée turned their lives upside down
Everybody dreams of a peaceful and fulfilling future with their significant other. But life may hit you with unexpected challenges that leave you devastated. A Reddit user who goes by u/wonderdrift thought she had finally found her soulmate after going through multiple failed relationships. Her fiancée supported her through all her mental health crises, healing her steadily. What she didn't realize was that the woman, too, was fighting a silent battle of her own. In her post on June 21, 2026, the heartbroken partner shared how their seemingly perfect reality collapsed overnight after one horrifying experience.
Never take your partner’s mental health for granted. I feel broken.

When she met her partner, she felt lucky to have found someone who finally made her feel safe. "She healed my heart that had been scarred and broken by years of toxic relationships," she shared. The two females had plans to travel and settle down together until one night changed everything. Her girlfriend began to experience awful psychosis and became increasingly paranoid. Her symptoms got worse to the point where she only trusted her significant other. After a while, even that changed; she started trying to break up with her, only to yearn to get back to her a little while later. Concerned for her, the creator of the post took her to the ER, where they had to force-admit her to a psychiatric hospital.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, psychosis makes people believe in false narratives and experience strange things that aren't real. The two types of psychosis are hallucinations and delusions. Some of the most common conditions associated with psychosis are schizophrenia, delusional disorder, substance/medication-induced psychotic disorder, brief psychotic disorder, and so on. While medications usually help in calming people suffering from the condition, cognitive behavioral therapy and inpatient treatment are recommended in the worst cases. The woman admitted she feels broken and lost, unsure how to navigate her life and the situation. She can only hope her partner's health improves and that she can soon live in peace. "In a perfect world, we can pick up where we left off someday," she added.
"I never thought I could be living a nightmare like this. Hug your loved ones tight for me," she wrote. Users shared their sympathy and support. u/simulationswarms said, "This is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry." u/Gold-Sherbert-7550 commented, "You're getting her help she very much needs, for what that's worth." u/Spirderchron added, "I hope your partner finds what they need to get back to themselves."
