Woman thought she’d found the perfect guy on Hinge — until his second photo and a name search made her stomach drop

Spotting his job on Hinge sparked her curiosity, and she joked she was playing real-life Nancy Drew.

A promising dating match online can sometimes turn into something entirely unexpected. That’s what happened to LA-based comedian Jasmine Parniani when she had a seemingly perfect match on Hinge. However, her curiosity led her to an online investigation, raising questions about her date’s marital status. In an Instagram video posted on December 23, 2025, Parniani (@thedoglord) shared that she was excited after matching with a “gorgeous” Englishman with a six-pack who “loved to cook.” When she did some scrolling through his profile, his wedding ring caught Parniani’s attention immediately, according to the New York Post. Her video amassed over 1.1 million views.

In the video, she shared, “I’m like, wait, wait, wait — has he had a wedding ring on in all his pictures? Like, what’s going on here? So I start looking, I see a handful of his photos, and he’s got a wedding ring on.” She decided to dig deeper and started researching about her would-be date after noticing he had listed his job on his Hinge profile. "Call me, Nancy Drew, the way I'm on the case," read the caption of the post. That detail helped her track down his company directory and, eventually, his full name. Parniani Googled him and stumbled upon a wedding registry on The Knot, for a vow renewal scheduled just a week earlier. She said, “I’m thinking, oh, the trail, it’s warm. It’s a hot trail, baby!"

Joking about herself begging her 10-year-old MacBook not to crash during the search, she explained that further digging allegedly led her to the man’s wife’s LinkedIn profile. She realized that the woman’s job required frequent travel. Later, she posted a follow-up video, where she shared that she also had found the woman’s Instagram profile and spotted something “a little weird.” She found that the man followed his wife on Instagram; however, his wife did not follow him back. She decided to message the woman to warn her, but then she thought of consulting her friends, “because sometimes, I can’t be trusted to make my own decisions.”

One friend advised her to raise the issue directly with her date, instead of contacting his wife, because she thought they did not “necessarily have enough information to be DM’ing his wife.” The comedian took that advice and decided to FaceTime the man. When the call connected, she scanned his apartment for any signs of another woman, but didn’t notice anything. The man then addressed the issue himself and told her that he was “going through a divorce” and that it was “not finalized.”

“I’m like, you know what? That makes sense,” she said. “Because the vow renewal that I found, like The Knot website, was a vow renewal. They’d only been married for like five years, so that’s not a good sign,” she explained. However, viewers were far less convinced, with many suggesting that she not trust the man.  @m_eigenheer remarked, "They renewed their vows because he was cheating before. Classic." @jbunny5678 recounted, "I sent mine a gift from their baby registry. Stay toxic, ladies." Meanwhile, @flowerreyez1 joked, "He wanted you to know he was married to see if you would still see him."
