Venturing through the journey of a divorce is a bittersweet experience for many couples. While for some, it may seem like a positive beginning and relief, it can also mark the end of something once unique. It can redefine the idea of relationships and love altogether. Similarly, a woman named Kerriann Connelly Carro (@kerrianconnellycarro) revealed that she got a redefined experience of love after she witnessed her parents’ divorce. She shared a video of her parents’ last meeting after their divorce. Unfortunately, after that meet-up, Carro’s dad passed away. While going back to the clip, taken by chance, she got a new perspective about love and it’s endearing to learn about.

Divorce is not all bad, per CNN. Marriage and family therapist Rebecca Hendrix noted in a conversation with the publication that former partners can “come together differently.” “We may not have been the best at a relationship, but we can partner in dividing our lives or figuring out how to coparent our children,” she explained. Carro mentioned that her parents had met at 12 and had her at 19. After being together for 25 years, they decided to get a divorce. In another video, sharing a backstory, Carro noted how she was in the third grade when her parents decided to separate. It took a toll on her, per Newsweek.

“This definitely distorted my view on relationships. My dad was emotionally broken and my mom was in hyper-independence mode,” she poignantly recalled. The then-little girl never got the experience of a “happy marriage,” and it messed with her idea of love. However, after her dad passed away following a terminal condition, she chanced upon the video of her parents’ last meeting — it changed everything. Carro filmed the duo who met after their divorce. They were sharing a warm hug, full of love, support and best wishes for each other. However, their faces revealed the pain they had from getting separated.

With tears and kisses, they bid each other goodbye, wishing each other the best, no remorse, no regrets, only love. It was tough for them and their expressions revealed it all. “I was scrolling through my camera roll and remembering I had taken this. The emotions were mixed,” she said. However, revisiting that old clip and looking at the hidden love her parents had changed the deep-rooted, injured idea of love she knew. “That moment showed me the love they truly had for each other still; it was like an emotional cleansing of all the turmoil I had seen them put each other through,” she remarked.

For Carro, that video was the closure she needed. She realized that even in separation, there had been love all along. Sharing that her parents spoke over the phone on his last day, she noted, “My father told my mother that day that he's going to be 'very busy up there watching over all of us.’” She gladly mentioned, “My mom isn't just my mom, my dad wasn't just my dad. I was looking at two people who, for a split second, saw only each other,” she remarked. @thennotnow said, “What a tender moment caught on camera.” @dnoshare wrote, “Love never ends, sometimes, it just changes and that’s okay.”
