"Alex thinks this restaurant is great." "Alex recommended this podcast." "Alex is incredibly organized."
Every. Single. Day.
But whenever I asked what department Alex worked in, or if we should invite Alex…
Lissa could not get the name "Alex" out of her head, especially after hearing it from her boyfriend several times. When she asked which department this person worked in, she got no answer. It made her worry that her partner might be cheating on her with the supposed coworker. Things got worse when she saw a notification pop up on his lock screen that read, "Can't wait for our secret rendezvous on Friday. Don't tell you-know-who." That day was their anniversary, but Lissa couldn't ignore the message she had seen. She immediately confronted him and told him that if he wanted to be with Alex, he should just say it. However, the man burst out laughing and opened his calendar app to reveal that Alex was his 62-year-old master ceramist, from whom he had been secretly taking pottery lessons just to surprise her.
As it turns out, the woman had accidentally broken a vase. Her boyfriend wanted to make a replica of it for their anniversary. "The 'secret rendezvous' was his final glazing session. I've never apologized so fast in my entire life," she wrote. Lissa was almost ready to end her relationship when she saw the text. On an impulse, she confronted the man, expecting the worst. Instead, the truth made her realize why it's never right to jump to conclusions before knowing the entire scenario. What once seemed like a horrific reality turned into a humorous twist with an unexpectedly wholesome ending. The woman's post left many amazed, and they praised the boyfriend for planning such a thoughtful gift for their anniversary.
@YoungboiCypher shared, "Honestly? Your reaction was totally justified based on that text, but he deserves an award for that level of thoughtfulness." @Humanoholic wrote, "Nothing prepares you for the emotional whiplash of going from 'he's cheating on me' to 'this man is secretly learning pottery for sentimental reasons.'" @iyemikEdge remarked, "Imagine almost ending your relationship over a 62-year-old pottery master."
