Woman was furious after finding her name in his notes app on their first date — but the reason it was there had the internet siding with him
Small misunderstandings can sometimes have a bigger impact on relationships. A woman became upset after discovering her name was saved inside a man's notes app, and what followed eventually ended things between them. Noah Pilato shared the story in a Facebook video on April 25, 2026, explaining how she immediately got offended before he could even offer a valid explanation. While she was enraged, the internet praised him after learning why he had been taking notes.
According to Pilato, the pair had been casually talking for around three months when he invited her to his apartment for dinner. While preparing to cook, he opened a recipe in his notes app and asked her to read it while he worked. That's when she noticed a separate file titled with her name. She immediately confronted him about it. He explained that it was where he kept reminders about her interests, favorite orders, hobbies, and other details he wanted to remember. The man added, “Anything important about her that I feel like I need to know, I write it down.” However, the woman instantly became furious and asked whether he had to write stuff down so he wouldn't "confuse" her with other girls he was talking to. Despite assuring her that it was not true, she was already disturbed and agitated.
Pilato took the question lightly and did not realize how strongly she felt about the issue. Although the conversation ended and they finished dinner, the disagreement was far from over. In the weeks that followed, the topic continued to resurface. Whenever he pulled out his phone or mentioned something related to her, she would make comments about the note. She'd say, “Are you adding this to Emily’s list?” The repeated remarks left him confused and eventually caused a tiff between the two, and they stopped speaking. Looking back on the situation, the man earnestly said, “My intentions behind it were so genuine.” He turned to the internet to understand better. "I need to know, am I in the wrong for this?" he asked.
Commenters, however, felt the opposite way. They immediately backed him up and praised him for being thoughtful enough to even do something like that. Furthermore, they acknowledged how calmly he dealt with the argument. Susan Anderson wrote, "This is the greenest of green flags. Imagine being upset that someone made an effort." Charity Fair Thompson said, "I would be absolutely flattered if someone did this for me." Sierra Dawn shared, "I do the same thing even with my friends because I also forget things so easily!"
