Wife was stunned to see husband cook dinner in the dark, wearing just a headlamp. When she realized why — she couldn't stop crying
Little acts of consideration make a big difference in a relationship. So when a woman was suffering from migraine, she was touched to see her husband making dinner for her with a headlamp on. The woman, Madison Newcomb, decided to film the moment and shared a brief clip of her husband on her TikTok page, where she goes by @mads.newcomb. It went viral, receiving over 1.3 million views on the platform.
"I have a terrible migraine and I look over to my husband cooking me dinner with a headlamp on," the text overlay of the video read. The man had switched off all the lights in the house to ensure that Newcomb's migraine didn't get worse and cooked with a headlamp to ensure that there was as little light as possible. "I just love him so much," the caption to the video read. "I was lying down on the couch with an awful migraine and looked over at my husband, who was cooking in the dark with a headlamp on. It took me a second, but then I realized why he was doing it, so he did not have to turn on the lights and make my headache worse," the woman told Newsweek.

Newcomb also revealed that such acts of kindness were quite a usual thing for her husband, Chris. "As kind and thoughtful as that gesture was, Chris truly does small acts like that every single day that let me know how much he loves me. If you know Chris in real life, you know just how thoughtful and intentional he is with the people he cares about." She added, "I am so glad over a million people got to see a glimpse of what my life married to Chris looks like. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world every day." The couple had just gotten married in May this year, per the outlet. The woman had also just started posting on TikTok and was not expecting to get so much attention.
"I decided to take a quick little video, having no idea it would receive the response that it has," Newcomb remarked. People praised the couple's relationship in the comments section of the video. @sacredjawn wrote, "When I was younger, I had a really bad headache and my brother came in the living room and dimmed all the lights. I remember that till this day this probably happened bout 10 years ago, lol." @xyz_it_aint commented, "May his love for you and noticing everything about you continue to nurture his love and happiness towards you and for life itself!"
@_chronically_fabulous remarked, "There are so many ‘non-traditional’ ways to show love with chronic illness and disability that are even more meaningful. I love this." @gottahaveash shared, "As a woman living with Chronic Migraine Syndrome, this is the richest thing I’ve ever seen! To be loved is to be seen." @kylieskyemowell expressed, "I was lying on the couch with a migraine the other day and my dad put his headlamp on to read his book." The woman often shares glimpses of her life with her partner. In another video, Newcomb shared her mom happily watching her first dance with her husband on their wedding day.
