Woman was told she had just months left to live — until ChatGPT helped uncover the diagnosis doctors missed for 1.5 years
Your body will always warn you when something is off, and paying attention to symptoms is crucial to a healthy life. A woman named Siya (@Loop_and_Lift) shared a post on X about how she persisted in highlighting issues with her mother’s health. Doctors couldn’t explain her mom’s prolonged cough and informed her that she only had months to live. After multiple false diagnoses and no medication seeming to work, the woman turned to ChatGPT to get some answers. It helped her get to the root cause of the problem and turn her mom’s failing health around.
Siya explained that her mother had an unstoppable cough for a year and a half. They tried everything they knew, but in vain. “We saw top doctors, visited big hospitals in and out of the city, tried homeopathy, ayurveda, allopathy, nothing helped,” she wrote. She spoke to multiple medical professionals, but her condition was only worsening with no diagnosis. When her mom started bleeding internally, doctors said something that sent her reeling. "If this goes on for six more months, it could be fatal,” they said. Siya refused to sit and give up on her mother’s ailment. Though there were no answers, she wasn’t going to let the mysterious malady overpower life.
Despite feeling clueless, anxious, desperate, and frustrated, she did what most people do when they don’t have answers — she turned to ChatGPT. This was her last shot at trying to save her mother’s life. She described everything about her mom's medical history and her present condition. She was baffled to find the tool raise a point no doctor had noted yet. “ChatGPT gave me the main reason,” she said. The AI tool pointed out that if her mom was taking medication for Blood pressure, it could be causing an effect.
She continued to interact with the tool and added that her mom was on BP medication. "Is she on BP medication with this ingredient?" ChatGPT asked. “Yes, she was. ChatGPT suggested it could be the cause,” Siya noted. Unsure whether to believe a random prompt, the woman knew it may have been a last resort. She met with a doctor and shared the findings. “We told a doctor. He confirmed it instantly and changed the medication. Now she’s finally healing,” the post revealed. In a comment, the woman revealed that even doctors had asked if the mom was on BP medication but didn't consider that it could be a problem.
ChatGPT saved my mom

My mom had a nonstop cough for 1.5 years.
We saw top doctors, visited big hospitals in & out of the city, tried homeopathy, ayurveda, allopathy nothing helped.
It got worse: internal bleeding started.
Doctors said, "If this goes on for 6 more months, it could…
What several medications and different forms of treatment couldn’t highlight, careful consideration from AI did. “Not exaggerating, but ChatGPT saved her life,” Siya remarked. Though ChatGPT’s results are not to be solely considered, seeing how it highlighted an issue and paved the way to identify the problem was impressive. @Ashuman said, “That's how the right usage of AI comes into place.” @leonhan31 added, “I'm so glad ChatGPT could help your mom. It's incredible how technology can make a real difference in tough situations.” @AdiSpeax shared, "ChatGPT may not always be right, but it is a repository of knowledge since it has data from innumerable sources."
