3-year-old watched his mom collapse from a seizure — he couldn’t talk, but still found a way to 'call' for help

Technology might act as a boon for people in the toughest of times. For one mom, both technology and her 3-year-old son came to her rescue during a medical emergency. The mom, Shantell Woods, was experiencing a seizure while she was on the couch in her living room. There was no adult in the house at the time when the boy, Cody, saw his mom's condition. The boy knew that he would have to get help for his mother somehow and ended up doing something that surprised most adults around him, per WXYZ-TV Detroit Channel 7.

"I want to cry right now. He is my hero," Woods expressed. The woman was unconscious because of her seizure and had no way to get help. Thankfully, her three-year-old was around and had seen his mom having a seizure before. He quickly found her phone and called someone through FaceTime. He held the phone close to his mom's face, so the person, Kaia, would know about the situation. "He unlocked my phone and he called Kaia," Woods recounted. Kaia realized that something "wasn't right" when she saw the state Woods was in. So she immediately hurried to their house to check on the mom and her toddler son.

After Kaia had picked up the video call, Cody immediately requested her to help his mom. "Kaia, Kaia, help mommy, help mommy," Woods revealed her son's words on the phone. After Kaia saw what happened, she immediately called 911 to get emergency medical help for Woods. "I panicked. She called me and she didn't say anything on FaceTime. So I knew something was not right," Kaia told the outlet. Kaia had gotten really emotional and was crying because of all the panic she felt during the situation. "No, I need the emergency medical services here right now," Kaia explained to the person on the other side of the line. "They are on the way for you. Keep breathing," the dispatcher said as he tried to reassure Kaia during the incident.

At first, Kaia thought that Woods had called her before she lost consciousness. But later found out that the toddler was actually the one who had called her to get help for his mom. Many people in the community were excited about what the toddler had managed to do for his mom. "Can I see the hero?" people repeated to Woods. As Cody's fourth birthday is about to come up next month, many people also showed up at the family's house with early birthday presents for him. One of the neighbors promised to get ice cream for the little boy throughout the year as a reward for his courage.
"I was surprised, but I was also happy that he knew what to do in that moment," Kaia remarked. "It's just amazing," Woods expressed. People applauded the little boy for his quick actions in the comments section of the video. @clariseharrington8252 wrote, "Oh my goodness, my heart. What an intelligent little angel. Mom is clearly raising him right. Great job to the friend who answered and jumped into action immediately." @suzypos4571 commented, "Mom's little guardian angel. Good job getting help for your mom at the right time, young man."
