A person's childhood might impact their sense of self later on in life. So, it might be necessary for children to develop practices that make them feel more confident about themselves and their abilities. Now, each individual might choose a different way to express how they feel about themselves. A girl standing in front of the mirror to do her daily affirmations and saying everything she feels is good about her has struck a chord with many adults on the internet. The video was shared on YouTube by the girl's dad, who goes by @dmchatster on the platform.

The little girl stood on the bathroom counter and began, "I can be a shark." She added, "Now, my whole house is great. I can do anything good. I like my school," Jessica went on. "I like anything, I like my dad, I like my cousins, I like my aunts, I like my Allisons, I like my moms," the girl said as people chuckled from behind the camera. She seemed to be doing a little dance in front of the mirror as she said all of those things. "I like my sisters, I like my dad..." the girl kept on saying and her dad laughed in the background, followed by a baby's cries. "I like my hair, I like my haircuts."

"I like my pajamas; I like my stuff, I like my rooms, I like my whole house," the girl remarked as she made her voice more powerful and firm and put an emphasis on each word as she talked about her house. She clapped as she repeated, "My whole house is great, I can do anything good." She sang, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can do anything good." Jessica even said, "I can do anything good, better than anyone," as she got down from the counter with the help of a stool. The video received more than 23 million views after being uploaded in 2009, as well as 77k likes. The caption read, "Jessica has a day where she's feeling...really good about her life."

The dad also made a Q&A section in the video's description to answer questions people had asked. The man revealed that his daughter was 4 years old in the video and was born in late October 1997. Many people wondered if the girl had two moms as she said, "I like my moms." The dad explained, "No, she just has one mom and one dad (me.) For some reason, she was 'pluralizing' several things in her 'like list.' That's why she says 'Allisons' and 'cousins' (she only has one.)"

Some people wondered if the little girl did her affirmations every day. The dad responded, "Yes, until the age of seven. ... Just kidding. I think this was a day when the video camera was out, so there was an element of 'putting on a show' - but Jessica still meant every word. Though she may have been hamming it up a bit, she was sincere in the things she was saying." People on the internet pointed out how the girl was saying that she could do things better than anyone. The man highlighted, "Some people have had an issue with her saying this, but it's not something that we taught her. And I've never seen her (even all these years later) say anything like this to anyone. I suspect it was probably the expression of some inner confidence that she just happened to express outwardly on this one particular day."
