67-year-old nutritionist shares 3 key health tips for women in their 50s—one statement resonates widely

There is so much going on in a woman’s body during the premenopausal and menopausal stages. With emotional, mental and physical stages, it is important to prioritize our well-being and love for our bodies and health. Leanne Ely (@savingdinner), nutritionist, shared three health tips women in their 50s can look to as a guide, Scary Mommy stated. While each significantly points out ways to maintain a healthy satisfaction, one statement deeply touched the hearts of many women and is something they needed to hear. It’s redefining how they look after themselves. Her advice was also reposted by menopausal specialist Dr. Mary Claire (@drmaryclaire).

Ely mentioned that as a 67-year-old, she has spent over a decade figuring out the changes in her own body. With these changes, she had come across many experiences and learned what made the biggest difference. Sharing her “17-year-old viewpoint,” she revealed three epic truths that women in their 50s need to be mindful of. The first one was to give weight-lifting importance for the strength it can bring. “Preserve your bones, do everything in your power to use your body as the strength machine that it is. You don't want to be walking around complaining about your knees or your hip pain or whatever it is,” she advised.

She added that our dreams can be fueled only if we have the energy to work on them. “Move it or lose it and that goes for your muscles,” she said. The next factor she highlighted was relationships. Ely urged fellow women to never skip their dreams for a man. Recalling her own “poor relationships,” the woman mentioned how she had been pulled down because of them and how much she needed to prioritize herself. “But when you feel good about yourself and you know yourself, that is gonna trump all of the garbage that any man can throw your way,” she pointed out. Thirdly, the nutritionist shared one pointer that can make or break the way we see ourselves. “Know who you are. Stand firm in that person of who you are,” Ely said.

She emphasized how every person has a purpose for being here. “This is important because you aren't here to be someone's second fiddle. You're not here to be degraded, spoken down to, condescended to and gaslit. You are here on purpose and for purpose,” she said. Though you may be in your 50s, Ely focuses on the idea that maybe your purpose is yet to be found and that shouldn’t change how you see yourself. It’s not just what goes into your body, it’s also how you treat it that makes a big difference in health. Lastly, the woman pointed out one statement that left women reconstructing their perspectives.

“Feed your body like it is the most important person in your life. Feed it like your baby,” she noted. Whether that means eating right, getting enough protein and hydration and so on, she asked women to look at their bodies as something to be deeply cared about. It touched many women. To think of your body as your own baby is a whole game-changer. @allyson.ayers said, “I appreciate all of these words of wisdom, especially ‘Feed yourself like you’re a baby.’ It’s hard to remember that.” @getupkeepmoving added, “Your perspective from 17 years ahead is a wonderful, empowering affirmation for every woman.”
