8-year-old boy asks 'Am I a lesbian?' to mom after school—the epic reason has her and the internet in stitches

Being a part of the experience of learning with children is one of the most vibrant and lively things. Seeing them make the most adorable mistakes and mishaps until they finally understand something is truly a memory for parents. Whether it’s the cutest mispronunciation of a word or a misunderstanding of a phrase, each has its own delight. A mom named Rochè Smith–who goes by @mummyroch on TikTok–encountered a hysterical experience with her 8-year-old son, Ke'Shawn, when he shared about his day at school. The boy was asked a question at school, which he didn’t know the answer to. So, he confidently came up to his mother and asked whether he was a lesbian.

In the video, Ke’Shawn was seen asking Smith whether he was a lesbian. The mom was undoubtedly confused as to where her son heard the term or why he thought of asking. However, he accompanied the question with another option. “Am I a lesbian or a vegan?” he asked. Ke’Shawn seemed to be genuinely curious and concerned and wondered why his mom was even more baffled at his question. Explaining the hilarious reason that pushed him to ask the odd question, the mom noted, "He is not a big fan of school dinners, so every day he tells me what was on the menu. We were on the bus when he first asked, 'Am I a lesbian?' I laughed,'" per Newsweek.

Smith pulled out her phone to record and knew she had to capture the moment and it had people in stitches. Ke’Shawn finally explained, “I asked my teacher because there were sausage rolls, chips and fish.” He continued to list the items on the menu when it finally struck the mom. “So what did they ask you? If you’re a vegan or…?” she asked. “...A lesbian,” he replied confidently. "He meant pescatarian," Smith confirmed. She mentioned that the 8-year-old’s teacher asked whether her son was vegan or pescatarian to understand his food requirements. However, he misheard the word, learned it as "lesbian" and relayed that back to his mother.
“I’m too immature to be a mum,” Smith wrote in the caption of her post. “I’m not laughing,” she said as she tried to sympathize and comfort her son. Clearly, she was having the time of her life understanding Ke’Shawn’s little mixup and hilarious experience. With nearly 5,000 comments, parents understood the irony and the humor these little moments bring. Others were in stitches at the mishap. @itskellietu wrote, “Poor baby just wanted to have lunch in peace, but they confused his diet and sexuality.”

@rananananaaaa added, “I’m howling. His sweet little confused face.” @frankymyocean2012 joked, “The fact that you started this video saying, ‘I’m not laughing’ means he tried to tell you this story a couple of times and you failed.” @tydalwav3 wrote, “He’s so passionate about the question, bless him.” @deeangel21 added, “I feel bad for laughing. He was dead serious about the question, poor him.” @laaaayslols said, “Me thinking of the possible words he could have heard instead of this, but none sound the same.” @mila_xx remarked, “He got it so wrong. Children are so funny.”
