8-year-old politely refused her mom’s request for an empty 'Grinch box' — then noticed a child without one and surprised her

A 60-year-old mom approached the children, asking for their boxes so she could put food in them and give it to her child, who was the only one without a 'Grinch' box.

People might try to do good things and spread holiday cheer as the Christmas season draws near. However, one might not expect a child to give up something of their own to make some else happy. So when a mom saw her eight-year-old daughter give up her McDonald's Grinch Meal box to make a toddler happy, she was really proud. The girl was looking forward to keeping the box for herself, but still decided to give it up, making the exchange even more special. The mom, Dayana Jiselle, captured the exchange on video and shared it on TikTok, where she goes by @dayanajiselle. The clip received over 4.7 million views.

"Today, we went to get the Grinch meals and as we were throwing our trash, a lady asked me if she could have our Grinch box so she could put her daughter's food inside of it," the text overlay of the video read. "My daughter was excited about taking her box home, but before we got into the car, she asked if she could go back." Her next action made everyone's heart grow three sizes. The girl wanted to go back inside the restaurant and hand over her box to the lady. The gesture made her mom really proud. The caption read, "So proud of my human."

"Everyone in the restaurant had the Grinch box and was taking photos and videos of it, so her child felt left out," Dayana told Newsweek about the mom's request. Initially, both of her kids had politely refused to give their boxes away. But then the girl had a change of heart. "As we were walking out of the restaurant, my daughter told me that she wanted to go back to give her box after all. I let her enter the restaurant alone and I stayed back by the front door at a distance." The single mom was really proud as she always tried to inculcate the spirit of giving in her kids.

"I recently just gave another single mom a Christmas tree and decorations. I always involve my children in all of my charity work, so I was proud to be passing along that example," the mom went on. People appreciated the girl's gesture in the comments section of the video. @bless.yourboots wrote, "I went to get my three kids the Grinch meal yesterday. I was in line behind a mother of two boys. They asked if they could get it and she told them quietly that she didn't have enough money. When she was done checking out, I bought her and her two boys the Grinch meal. And handed it to them after they sat down and told her that moms have to stick together. It takes a village. Thank you for raising such a wonderful girl."

@epsteindidntkillhimself0 commented, "This isn't about the Grinch meal, but the other day I was getting snacks and food for my kids at the grocery store and I guess someone overheard me counting my money and telling them I might have to put something back. She gave me $30 and said 'Merry Christmas!'" @emiilyxanne remarked, "The fact you didn’t make her do it and she willingly did it just shows what a wonderful mother you are and how big her heart is." The mom often shares glimpses of her life with her kids on her page. In another video, the mom hilariously asked parents to put the elf on the shelf out on the 15th instead of the first, so people didn't have to think of 24 ideas.
