Autistic boy obsessed with Jell-O always got loads of it from his nanny — his response warmed mom’s heart

Children might find different ways to form bonds with people around them. An autistic and non-verbal boy, Finn Wilson, bonded with his nanny over Jell-O or jelly. The boy was in love with the sweet treat. So whenever he went to his nanny's house, she kept loads of it ready to welcome him. In return, the boy did the sweetest thing to express his thanks without fail. His mom, Jacqui Wilson, who goes by @jacquiwilson94 on TikTok, shared the adorable moment her son left his nanny's house with the platform. The brief clip received over 325,100 views.

"When your autistic and non-verbal son is obsessed with Jelly and this is how he leaves his nanny's every time he visits," the text overlay of the video read. As the clip began, Finn walked out of a house with at least four containers of jelly held in his hands and mouth. The boy managed to hold the containers along with a phone and didn't drop a single thing as he walked towards the car. Someone came out to help him with the car door, as Finn's hands were full. At one point, he even refused to let the person help him with the container in his mouth before he let them take it.

"He has loved it for a few months now. It's sensory for him and he loves the colour red in everything," Wilson told Newsweek. Finn's love for the food came from how sensory it was to touch, taste and smell. The boy visited his nanny twice a week and she loved to make jelly for him every time he came. "His nanny makes him pots of it and nobody else is allowed to touch them." She added, "He carries them everywhere with him and every time he visits his nanny, she has it made for him and he goes to the fridge and lifts out all the pots at once as soon as he goes in the door." The nanny keeps the jelly in the fridge overnight and wakes up at 7 AM to keep everything prepared for the boy before his visit.
In return, Finn gives her "the biggest hug and kiss" for making him his favorite thing to eat. It also warmed the woman's heart to see Finn happy. His mom was really grateful for the thoughtful gesture as well. "I want people to see what life is like for a child with high support needs. It's the little things that bring them the most joy," Finn's mom expressed. People praised the nanny for her efforts in the comments section of the video. Some people also shared their own experiences with a beloved family member or caregiver.

@kaid__34.xx.xx wrote, "I am autistic. I asked my nan for a whole bowl of trifle as my birthday cake and she made the biggest bowl of trifle ever just for me and I didn’t have to share. I was so happy. I love my nan, she doesn’t quite understand the autism thing, but she’s an amazing nan who would quite literally make me anything I’d like to get me to eat." @dftbalygood commented, "My mom loves spoiling my autistic son with his special interests. The only thing holding her back is not having enough room in her car for more surprises. He loves his Nana." @annac33333 remarked, "Bless his little heart. My little boy is non-verbal too. He’s currently just obsessed with wheels on the bus." In another video, Wilson shared a glimpse of Finn spending time with his nanny and revealed that the woman used to be her nanny, too.
