Women go through different or extreme emotions during pregnancy, and support and understanding from their significant other can make a big difference. OBGYN and Instagram user Lawren Honken had a couple make a prenatal visit at her clinic when the boyfriend complained about his partner's "moodiness." Sharing under the username @yourfriendtheobgyn on Thursday, May 28, the doctor explained how she was disappointed and frustrated by the question. She quickly offered a solution that shut him up.

Honken was briefing the patient, who was in her third trimester. When it was time for the couple to clarify their doubts with the gynecologist, her boyfriend asked, "Can you do something about moodiness?" He proceeded to chuckle, indicating that he was trying to be funny, which left the doctor even more appalled. She instantly replied, "Hers or yours?" When he clarified he was speaking about his partner, Honken remarked, "You can do the dinner, give her foot rubs, back massages, you can take her shopping, and give her some money. Anything that helps with her 'moodiness.'" She suggested a few ways the man could be present and more involved during the period, rather than just observing and making comments

According to research published in PubMed Central, men's support during their significant other's pregnancy is considered to improve maternal health. The study, which interviewed 220 mothers, found that supportive partner involvement is considered to be a key factor in dictating the overall health and well-being of moms. "67.3% reported that identification of their fears and worries and encouragement with kind words by their spouses increased throughout the pregnancy period," and it was helpful. On the other hand was this man, trying to get rid of the "moodiness," only to make the entire journey more convenient for him.

His complaint seemed ridiculous to viewers, especially since Honken had mentioned that the woman was just weeks away from her due date. @elhequestrian wrote, "Straight to jail for that guy. Can you imagine how annoying he is at home if he asks that at an appointment?" @ellen_mcivor commented, "Get a second boyfriend or even a third. I'm sure then she would receive enough compliments and love." @caevans713 shared, "My husband would never. Partially because this is our second, and he knows my OBGYN well enough to know he'd get a very similar answer."
