Breastfeeding mom clicks a mirror selfie. But it is what husband is doing in the background that steals the show

New moms usually struggle with postpartum changes and other bodily alterations. In addition to dealing with it all, they need to provide nutrition for their newborns by breastfeeding and giving proper attention to their babies. While many parenting tasks like breastfeeding, pumping milk and so on are primarily done by the mom, they don’t need to be burdened and do it all on their own. A mom named Emily DeVanney’s mirror selfie shared on Facebook has captured every mom’s heart for a reason that resonates with many. She was busy breastfeeding her baby, but her husband’s actions are an inspiring attitude every dad can follow.

Many dads wonder how to help while the mom is breastfeeding or pumping milk. While fathers can not take on such an activity, they can help by being observant and assisting. And DeVanney’s partner did just that. The mom was seated in the bathroom, breastfeeding her baby. While she had her hands full and couldn’t get to anything else, her husband stepped in. He’s seen ever so readily fixing his wife’s hair as she feeds the baby. “How a dad can ‘help’ with the feedings of a breastfed baby. ‘True love is blow drying her hair while she breastfeeds because you don't have a whole lot of time, so you kill 2 birds with 1 stone!’” the caption read.

The man understood that he couldn’t help specifically with the breastfeeding, but knew he could help his wife, even if that looked like setting her hair. A seemingly trivial thing, but it has such a voluminous impact for exhausted moms. In a comment, the mom proudly added, “And the best part is, I didn't even ask, he offered! Can't get any better than that! Take note, dads, every mommy is gonna want this kinda chivalry!” The very fact that he observed her need and figured out what to do to help make such a massive difference in how the day played out altogether. To him, he saved her for a couple of minutes, but to her, it is a worry off her chest.

Several mums approved of the gesture and knew exactly how it felt to have a little breather, thanks to a simple help. Some even shared how their partners helped them during the pregnancy and postpartum. Mary Damron said, “He usually ends up cutting my dinner for me and sometimes, he'll feed me while I feed the baby, all while his food gets cold.”Jessica Elofson remarked, “My son asked what was happening in this picture... I told him and then shared with him that I hope he will be that kind when he is older and has babies. Love this picture, thank you for sharing.”
Kelly Moore added, “Now that is a real man...he knows the importance of helping his wife. It's the little things that get the biggest rewards! Happy wife = happy life.” Halsey Hendrickson wrote, “My husband used to braid my hair before bed, so it wouldn't get tangled and my hands were occupied with the baby. Every woman deserves a man who treats her like this when she needs him!”
