British woman who shares her 'unique' name with a U.S. city says no one believes her: 'They think it's a fake name'

Many parents try to give their children a name that means something to them or the family. However, the bid to give a child a unique and meaningful name may not yield the best results all the time. A woman whose mom used initials from both her and her dad's family's surnames to name her faced something similar. She has a unique name that matches a famous US city's name and kind of likes it, but it has created a host of problems for her. The woman named L.A. Cartier, who goes by @lacartierofficial on TikTok, shared the story behind her unique name and the challenges she has faced because of it.

"I think my name is the most problematic name in this world," Cartier began. "To the point where my driving license came back with the picture of a Chinese man on it, my name, his signature and my address." The systems can not understand her name, and it got on her "last nerve" at times. "When I want to have a passport, when I want to renew a passport, they ask me for a birth certificate because this can't be my name!" Even though they have her name on the passport since she was three months old, they can no longer look it up. "My whole life, I have had problems," she continued.
"Whenever I meet someone new, there has to be a discussion about my name," Cartier explained. "First of all, when I give them my name, they think I am giving them some sort of fake name, then they think they are some initials, then they don't believe that it is on my birth certificate..." Even if people believe that her name is indeed L.A., they are usually not ready to accept that it is spelled like that. Her name is "L.A.," spelled exactly like that and it is hard for her to understand why that is such a big "problem." Many people even think that her name is actually "Ellay" and she has to correct them all the time. Others think that her name is "La." Quite a few people also ask her what her name "stands for."
Cartier shared that her mom named her L.A. by taking initials from the two family names. "She said that my child is going to be called L.A. and there is going to be no other." She said, "To be fair, it's a flex. I love it. Yes, it has caused me problems, but I do love it. Because I literally feel like I am one in a gazillion." She went as far as to tell her followers to find her another L.A. and she would go and meet the person and give them a hundred pounds. (one hundred and thirty-three dollars) Her name is also illegal now because names can't have dots anymore, according to one of her comments.

People shared their thoughts on her situation in the comments. @csx_29 wrote, "Lol, I have a customer called nineteen ninety-nine. I love when she calls because new staff are always so confused." @jamalic commented, "I know some twins named 'yesterday and tomorrow.'" @squa15 remarked, "Not the driving license with the Chinese man on it, sorry, but I laughed so hard." @ithielios shared, "Having an acronym with no acronym is kinda confusing still."
