Chick-fil-A got worried when favorite elderly couple stopped showing up — everything changed when staff tracked them down

There’s something about relationships we create out of the blue with strangers. Whether it’s a simple bond with the security guard that we pass on our way to work or a loyal customer at a restaurant, each holds significance and value. A woman named Eliza Murphy noted the special relationship her grandparents, Bobbie and Richard, shared with Chick-fil-A employees after becoming regular customers, per Love What Matters. When the staff noticed that the elderly couple had suddenly stopped coming to the outlet for a long time, they decided to track them down and find out why.

Murphy noted that her grandparents would “religiously" go to Chick-fil-A twice a week. With their frequent visits, they got to know the staff and vice versa. They were so bonded with each other that the employees even knew their orders by heart. “They would set their table with flowers on special occasions, give them their order and say ‘it’s on me’ some days,” Murphy said. Unfortunately, over the months, the employees noticed that the elderly couple had stopped coming. They felt something wasn’t right and tried to track them down. Their first attempt was to ask at local school systems where they knew the duo’s children worked. Unfortunately, because they didn’t know Bobbie and Richard’s last names, their efforts were initially in vain.

The staff persisted in finding the grandparents. Murphy mentioned that though they didn’t have any other details on them, they “described them as a big family, with lots of land, who all lived close together.” The employees even looked in churches and asked others for help. Eventually, after much effort, the workers were able to track down the duo. The staff learned that Richard’s health had not been great and though he was recovering, he wasn’t able to walk. His condition forced him to stay home and discontinue his regular and frequent Chick-fil-A trips. When the staff learned of the grandpa’s condition, they decided to ensure he and Bobbie continued to receive their meal.

Because they couldn’t go to Chick-fil-A, the employees were determined to bring Chick-fil-A to them. They drove 30 minutes to hand-deliver the meal to the elderly couple. “And look what happened next… a delivery to their house, with their order… down to salad dressings and how many packages of nuts they like on their salads,” Murphy remarked. She shared a picture of her grandparents holding a Chick-fil-A bag, completely reenergized and delighted to see their friends. “They drove all the way to see their favorite couple and deliver a meal to them in a time of need. When my nana sent me this picture, I cried,” the woman added.
"The part that touched my family the most was seeing the impact my grandparents had on people and seeing those people go the extra mile to see them, not because they had to, but because in their hearts, they wanted to,” she wrote. The employees’ gesture touched the elderly man’s heart to a point where “it was all he could talk about.” “I am blown away by what I witnessed. This is a moment that will forever be embedded into this family’s hearts and minds. There are angels on this earth. Keep your eyes open for the good through all the bad in this world,” Murphy concluded.
