Class bullies stole answers from the topper before a test — but one planned trick made everyone else fail

After putting up with constant bullying, they reached their limit and came up with a clever plan they jokingly described as 'petty.'

Being a top student can sometimes attract the wrong kind of attention. For one student, constant copying and bullying from classmates eventually pushed them to take action. TikTok user Daia Mahogany shared a story on April 21, 2026, about their school days, explaining how other students regularly targeted them because of their academic success. The classmates often relied on their work whenever an assignment or test came around, copying answers instead of doing the work themselves. In the video, posted under the handle @daiamahogany, they explained how months of frustration led them to come up with a plan before a major exam that carried significant weight toward the final grade.

Recalling the experience, Mahogany laughed, “I might be smart, but I am even more petty.” The upcoming test was worth 40 percent of the overall grade, making it especially important. To deal with the students who kept copying from them, they created two answer sheets: one correct and one intentionally filled with wrong responses. The incorrect version was left where classmates could easily see it. As expected, the students stole the sheet from the desk and copied it before the exam began. “The whole class—they take my paper and write down the wrong answers,” they said. After the sheet was returned, Mahogany quietly switched it with the correct one while pretending to search through their bag just before the teacher arrived.

Mahogany felt excited and nervous while waiting to see whether the plan would work. Their heart was racing as they watched classmates confidently rely on the copied answers. Many would agree that repeated cheating often creates consequences that are hard to avoid later. Two weeks after the exam, the teacher entered the classroom with the results and immediately shared disappointing news. According to Mahogany, only two students had passed the test, while nearly everyone else had failed.

The announcement surprised many students who had expected much better results. The teacher also revealed that Mahogany had scored a 98 on the exam. The room reportedly fell silent as students began putting the pieces together. They turned toward Mahogany, realizing why their own grades had turned out so poorly. The user said seeing those reactions was the most satisfying part of the entire experience. Looking back, Mahogany remembered the expressions on their classmates’ faces as they understood what had happened, saying that moment made all the frustration they had experienced feel worth it.

The best response to people who underestimate you is letting your achievements do the talking. In another incident, one student named Natalie Carter faced unfair judgment when a professor questioned her abilities based on how she looked and even remarked, “I am just surprised that someone who looks like you and dresses like you would know something like that.” Instead of reacting emotionally, Carter stayed focused and replied, “That was wildly inappropriate.” She went on to become one of the top students in the class, proving her skills through hard work before later reporting the incident. In the end, her achievements spoke louder than the assumptions made about her.
