College student dismissed her dad’s warning about predictable routines — years later, two strangers made his words terrifyingly clear
Advice that sounds overly cautious when you first hear it can make much more sense years later. A TikTok creator who goes by TheOnlyTtalks, under her handle, @ttalksonlypage1, shared a frightening college experience on July 28, 2025. She recalled a warning her father gave her when she first started college in 2015: never make your daily routine too predictable. At the time, she didn't think much of it, but a few years later, an encounter near a Walmart made her take those words very seriously.
The woman explained that by her junior year, she had developed a routine around a place called 7 Street Underground. She would often visit the area between and after classes to sing, use the computers, and spend time at the piano. One afternoon, while waiting outside Walmart for her shuttle, a stranger suddenly approached her, got extremely close to her face, and said, “We’ve been looking all over for you.” He pointed to another man sitting nearby and told her, “We know you. We’ve been watching you,” adding that they had seen her singing regularly. The men refused to let her go, and she escaped by calling her ex to pick her up. Unfortunately, the story didn't end there.
When she finally reached home, she made an even more frightening observation. Someone had glued her front door shut with strong construction adhesive. The situation became even more disturbing. Eventually, her relatives had to intervene, and the glue was so strong that the entire door had to be removed. She later reported the incident to the apartment management, but they told her not to talk about it because it could make the school look bad. She finally realized the weight of her father's advice and urged others to pay attention to their surroundings and everyday plans. Her story struck a nerve with viewers. @n.otoriousss wrote, “Criminal Minds taught me never keep a routine." @lovelymarsalia added, "They didn’t want you to be able to run into your apartment. They were going to take you." @beloved.dolly remarked, "Never keep the same routine and modify your schedule too."
Being exposed to danger can make a person feel helpless. However, sometimes, timely intervention can make all the difference. In another similar story, a woman named Liv Nevill shared how she escaped a stalker. After realizing he was following her, she walked into a store, hoping he would leave. To her surprise, he came in behind her, but couldn't do much due to many people being present there. The staff came to the woman's aid, helped her hide in the shop, and even checked multiple times to ensure the man left. Seeing she was too frightened to leave, another fellow shopper stepped forward and offered to walk her home. The stranger later told her that if their roles were reversed, she would hope someone would do the same for her.
