When someone intentionally creates trouble for others, karma has a way of evening the score. A Reddit user who goes by u/Tight_Steak_232 shared a post on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, about one fellow shopper who learned this the hard way. The woman was buying groceries with her husband and spotted the last piece of prime rib in the store. As they were talking about it, the other customer ahead of them asked the employee to pack it up for her. The duo was disheartened, but there was nothing they could do. Seconds later, the employee turned to them and asked a question that changed the outcome of the situation.

The woman explained that she and her partner were purchasing groceries ahead of their vacation. Excitedly, she spotted the last piece of prime rib and started discussing whether they should pick it up. They really wanted the meat, and it was on sale, just not the best piece. Seconds after overhearing their conversation, the customer in front of them asked the worker to pack the item for her. “I turn to her, bummed. ‘Seriously?’ I ask,” the wife recalled. Yet, the shopper insisted that she asked for it first and then gave a sarcastic expression. After packing the piece for her, the employee asked the couple, “She never asked, but I have one more prime rib in the back. Would you like to see it?"

The duo was delighted and agreed. To their surprise, the piece was far better. “He brings out a beautifully trimmed prime rib, probably a pound or so larger than the fatty one we lost,” the woman recalled. She even added that the current item had a “massive calotte,” the tastiest part of the meat, which the previous piece didn’t have at all. After the worker offered another dollar off per pound, it felt like a win all around. That was a silent revenge in itself, but when fate serves satisfaction on the side, you take it. The couple also ended up in the checkout line ahead of the shopper, and as they placed their prime rib on the conveyor belt, the husband said, “They did just so happen to have one really nice one in the back! Enjoy yours!"

To make matters worse for the shopper, as the cashier was ringing up the couple’s items, she said, “Oh, I know where I'm coming for dinner!" before loudly commenting that the discount they received was too good. The taste of that meal just got better. Commenters celebrated alongside the duo. u/espressomartini11 said, “You really roasted that rib-heist lady.” u/JackfruitBitter7692 added, “That calotte upgrade was divine.” u/Bad-Briar remarked, “That is petty gold.”

There are plenty of stories urging people to mind their own business in public spaces, but some refuse to do so and pay the price. In another instance, an elderly woman saw a mom breastfeeding her baby at a store and yelled at her. She told her, “Excuse me! I can see, and it's disgusting!” referring to the upper part of her breast. After asking her to cover up, the mom had the perfect reply. She took out a knitted hat with a bare breast image and covered her baby’s head, asking, “Is it better?” Shocked, the shopper walked out instantly.
