Being a bar dancer can mean dealing with uncomfortable and creepy customers sometimes. While confronting them directly can make things harder, one dancer found a clever way to make a disrespectful man leave the bar. Instagram creator Elle Stanger shared a story on June 28, 2026, about a man who repeatedly made offensive comments toward dancers at the bar. The dancers were fed up but didn't want to confront him directly. One day, after he returned from the bathroom, a dancer asked him one seemingly harmless question about his drink, and it was enough to make him leave.

Elle explained in the video that the man kept making rude and offensive comments to the dancers, and they were getting tired of him. So, one dancer decided to handle it without confronting him directly. She waited for him to leave for the bathroom, and when he did, he had left his drink behind. She waited for him to return and take a sip before asking, “How does your drink taste?” The question made him suspicious, and when he asked if she had done something to it, she simply asked why he thought she had a reason to do it. The man did not want to take any chances, so he got up and left. To his surprise, when he later complained, the owners checked the cameras and confirmed she had never touched his drink.

Elle shared this story on Instagram, writing, "Try this one easy trick to get a bar creep to leave." The funny thing is that the dancer never actually touched his drink but made him think that it was spiked. The creator also mentioned that people like him are not usually worried about somebody "antagonizing" them, but his own behavior toward the dancers made him suspicious when the tables were turned around on him. She simply made him question the situation for a moment, and that was enough to make him walk away. Sometimes, a quiet response can work better than a heated confrontation, especially when someone is already looking for trouble.

The story also drew supportive reactions from people who felt the dancer had handled the situation smartly. One viewer, @galnicholas87, wrote, “Make them feel vulnerable the way they try to make women feel. Perfect.” Another user, @viidim7, simply pointed to the challenges faced by “Women in male-dominated fields.” Another person, @kiori.jpeg, thanked Elle for sharing these experiences, writing, “I’m so glad you exist to share these things.”

Dealing with such customers often needs the workers to find subtle ways without creating a bigger scene. A 2026 study on restaurant workers found that servers often use subtle ways to deal with unwanted attention from customers, including avoiding them, hiding their reactions, and sometimes pushing back without directly confronting them. Researchers noted that workers often have to balance protecting themselves with the expectation to continue serving customers. The dancer in Elle's story strategically chose a quiet response that made the customer rethink his behavior without creating a scene.
