Dad asks daughter to wait for a minute before he can help her—her witty response sums up 'parenting in 2025'

"Nothing beats the sharpness and intellect of children. With time, each generation is becoming more developed at an earlier age than the previous generation. In a modern world where technology is ubiquitous, even toddlers are becoming tech-savvy. Having been exposed to devices and the internet as newborns and infants, they have ample opportunity to observe and gain experience in navigating the electronic world, often mastering it. A dad named Josh (@amberandjoshofficial) revealed that his daughter outsmarted him in the most witty way and it just explains what a ride parenting is in 2025. The little girl asked him for something and when he told her to wait, she had an unexpectedly witty reaction.

Josh was engrossed in doing the dishes when the girl asked for a cup of milk. The dad politely asked her to “wait for a minute.” While one might expect kids to wait or even get the milk themselves, this tiny tot had a more shrewd plan. Her reaction: 'Alexa, set a timer for one minute.' She cleverly used her tech prowess and called on Alexa to ensure she got what she wanted promptly—no waiting, no compromises. Josh was baffled to hear and comprehend the hilariously clever solution the girl had devised. He was so shocked by her ingenuity that he stopped washing the dishes mid-way and looked up in amazement.

“Parenting in 2025,” the dad wrote in the text overlay. In his caption, he pointed out, “Accountability has never been higher.” It isn't clear from the clip whether the girl got her cup of milk after a minute but from the looks of it, her plan had much potential for success. These shenanigans are no strange news to newer parents. Seeing Gen Zs and Gen Alpha growing and surpassing their thought process, parents are preparing for the extraordinary. Several parents found the scenario hilariously relatable. Still, others couldn’t help but express how the love for Alexa and Siri is popular in just about every family.

To make things funnier, the video ended only after capturing Alexa obediently agreeing and responding to the girl’s instructions. “One minute starting now,” the system said loudly. @k_spear said, “‘One minute starting now'—said all of our Alexa devices with earshot in unison.” @kbabe1013 added, “Wait, you too? Is my son there with you because this sounds very familiar?” @mackanji remarked, “This is a good reason to deter me from getting Alexa as my kids would totally do this.” @shannoncb87 added, “We’re gonna do this when she’s a teenager and says ‘1 minute’ for chores.”

While this is quite the humor, these devices seem to be doing some good for kids and their families too. In another instance, a toddler managed to dial the emergency helpline and save his mother’s life, thanks to his knack for talking to Siri, per the London Metropolitan Police. The boy’s mum had collapsed to the ground and he thought she “was dead.” He used his memory and took his mom’s fingerprints to unlock the phone and ask Siri to dial 999. The dispatchers quickly sent help. “Thanks to Roman's call, police and paramedics were able to get to his house within 13 minutes and provide first aid to his unconscious mother,” the statement revealed. That’ll do it!
