Some coincidences might turn into traditions for a family. A dad did that with a t-shirt he wore when his daughter was born. The man continued wearing the t-shirt for the next 17 years on his daughter's birthday. He always wondered what the deisgn on it stood for, until a stranger finally unraveled that mystery for him. The dad and daughter also recreated the picture of him holding her when she was born for her 17th birthday. There were quite a few coincidences attached to the garment and it meant a lot to the dad, according to his post on Reddit, where he goes by u/Leather_Food_5978.

"I've worn this shirt for the last 17 years, only on my daughter's birthday," the man revealed. He also shared a series of photographs of himself, wearing the t-shirt and holding his newborn daughter. In another photo, the dad and daughter recreated the photo on her 17th birthday. The man also shared some interesting facts about the t-shirt in the description. "I bought this in Tempe, AZ, at Buffalo Exchange back in probably 2000. My daughter was born in 2008. I got this picture when she was born. Every year since, I've worn it on her birthday." He added, "Every year I've wondered who made this shirt? and what is it? My daughter's name starts with 'M.' The flag has an 'M.' It's been my favorite shirt." He wondered if the internet could help him uncover the mystery behind the design on it.

A stranger on the internet finally responded to his query. "The search is over my friend. 813 was a BMX shirt thing I started years ago in Indianapolis IN. 8/13 was my father’s birthday. He passed when I was 16 so that’s where 813 idea came from." He further revealed, "'M' represented his name Max. The flag is kinda at half mast. But the other really cool thing is that when my daughter was born, she weighed 8.13 pounds. And I just happened to be wearing one as well." The dad was elated to finally know the meaning behind the T-shirt that had become a heart-melting family tradition. He commented, "If true, this may be the coolest way to have this post come to an end."

For the first five or six years, the dad just unknowingly reached out for the t-shirt on his daughter's birthday before it turned into an actual tradition, per Newsweek. The letter M on the t-shirt was also a coincidence, as the parents hadn't picked out the teen's name before she was born. "Something that was not planned, like wearing this shirt, has become so important to me. I've moved six times since she was born and I've always handled this shirt with extra care." He added, "I hope this post helps one dad out there stay motivated and involved in their kid's life. It's small, insignificant actions like this that help kids feel loved. I had to work hard to stay involved with my daughter and hopefully, she looks back and knows her dad loved her."

People shared their thoughts on the sweet tradition in the comments section of the post. u/General_Wishbone9456 wrote, "Lol. Great recreation photo set there. And the juice carton. The daughter was committed to the task. See the side burns raised to match the slight hair reseed, a bit like me. And the mole removed, better safe than sorry." u/Open_Ad_4921 commented, "The second picture made me laugh out loud. Glad to see your relationship with your daughter is a good one and happy birthday to her."

u/juanitapuanita remarked, "My daughter was an accidental, unassisted homebirth back in 2017. I have a picture of my husband holding her at our bathroom door as the midwife attended to me. We have taken a picture every year with him wearing the shirt, holding her the same way and in front of a similar door (since we moved when she was one). I love that you did this tradition." u/Ok-Apartment7684 shared, "I don’t know what it is, but you’re a good dad. I love how you guys did the picture from when she was a baby to now."
