The man hadn't thought much about what he was trying to do until his son was three years old, but then he got an idea.

Many families have unique traditions that help them create beautiful memories for themselves and their loved ones. A dad has had one such tradition with his son, Jackson, since the time Jackson was a baby. The father-son duo would take a picture in matching Batman t-shirts each year. They had followed the ritual for 11 years and the father hoped that they could go on as long as possible. The dad, Nick Tomasso, shared their 11 photos on Reddit, where he goes by u/nick_reddit_12. He shared his reason behind the tradition with Good Morning America.

"I wanted to share one of my favorite traditions with my son: Our annual 'Batman' picture. We've been doing this since he was born (although I didn't realize it was a 'thing' until year three). We'll keep it going as long as possible!" the Reddit post read. The 11 photos captured how the duo evolved over the years. "In years two and three, Jackson was sitting and that was just purely by chance, because that was his room and that was his chair," Nick told GMA. "At year three, I thought to myself, 'This would be pretty funny when he gets much bigger and he's either bigger than me or my size or my height.' I just thought that would be a pretty funny picture, as opposed to him just standing next to me," the dad said, explaining his reason.

The son got a new Batman t-shirt every year as he grew out of the old one. While the dad used the same Batman t-shirt every year and wore it only for their annual photo. They also strike the same pose on the same chair and the son tries to sit on his dad's lap every year, according to the outlet. Both father and son love the little tradition they have created for themselves. "We realized that it really is a cool time capsule to see how much he's growing. We agreed that we'd try to keep it going as long as we can. It may end next year. It may not end for 10 more years. It may not end for 20 more years. Who knows, but I would imagine once he gets older, it's not going to happen anymore."

The dad hoped to inspire other parents to celebrate the time they get to spend with their kids in some way as well. "As a parent, just make the most of the good times and bad and the big moments and the small moments, because time will go by very quickly." Nick remarked, "When you look at it from a total perspective, sometimes you take for granted how quickly time actually goes. Just be there for your kids, show up for them." People appreciated the beautiful tradition in the comments section of the Reddit post.

Very cool." u/thatoneredheadgirl commented, "I am going to do this with my husband and son. We are pregnant with our first. Have no idea what to name him, but my husband keeps joking that he will name him Batman when I’m asleep because it’s a family name. My father-in-law’s first and middle names are Bruce Wayne." u/justgorun remarked, "Such a beautiful progression of pictures. Wishing you both many more Batman pics."
