Fan requested J.J. Watt to write her boss a note about missing work — he responded with the most persuasive letter ever
J.J. Watt or Justin James Watt might have left his football career behind but he certainly holds his fans and their requests close to his heart. The American former football player with the Houston Texans team was hosting his third annual J.J. Watt Foundation Charity Classic softball game in 2015. The charity event was organized to support various youth programs and help raise funds for them. At that time, a fan named Ashlee Sanchez took to her X handle (@ashlee_sanchez) and expressed her dilemma to Watt.
Sanchez was worried that she might not get off on the day of the game from her office. She thought it would be best to let the star of the game persuade her boss to grant her requested leave. "If only @JJWatt can write me a letter to excuse me from work on Friday because I already have tickets to the game and I can't miss it!" the fan wrote in her post. She had hardly expected the former NFL player to respond but he did, and that too in the sweetest way possible. Watt posted the picture of a handwritten letter - he had addressed it to Sanchez's boss. "To Ashlee's Boss," the letter began, "Ashlee has requested that I write you a letter to excuse her on Friday so that she may attend my charity softball game."
The player tried to convince the boss by detailing more on the goals of the game and it surely did the trick. "The thing is, I have no authority to excuse her, only you do," he wrote. Watt added, "What I will say, is that she purchased tickets to this sold-out event and she is willing to drive 5 hours to come support us and help raise money, which in turn is going to change the lives of many kids. So if you would excuse her, that'd be pretty cool. Thanks for your time. Go Texans!"
Sanchez couldn't believe her luck. She replied in delight, "Wow this is too cool! Thank you so much hope it works! Tomorrow is actually my first day on the job." People were impressed at how the whole situation worked out for the woman, all thanks to Watt.
@nate9798 commented, "I hope she keeps her job. If she doesn't then there's always GoFundMe." @jasonjwilde shared, "I know he is brand-conscious, but the folks I know who cover him and know him tell me it's not phony. I am inclined to believe them." @garcly quipped, "Nice, I wish I thought of that. I'm just going to risk it! I'm still going to the JJ charity softball classic even with a boss." @SamisGreen mentioned, "This is literally the coolest thing I've ever seen! J.J. is such an incredible person, it's unbelievable!" @NancyWalDillard added, "I hope she gets the day off for this. Probably got the tickets before the job. Good luck Ashlee and great job J.J."
@JJWatt @ashlee_sanchez JJ is just showing more of his awesomeness.
