Firefighter saves woman in dramatic rescue after her heartbreak—he ends up marrying her 3 months later

The incident occurred in China where a woman was left hanging off the ledge of a building after she lost her footing.

Love blossoms in unexpected places and some of the most unlikeliest scenarios. One could bump into the love of one's life while taking a stroll in the park whereas others might find it hanging on the ledge of a building. That was how the beautiful love story of a Chinese firefighter and a woman started, as reported by a Taiwanese media outlet, SET News. A woman, whose name was not disclosed to the media, was going through a distressing phase in her life. Hence, she chose to end it all by leaping off an apartment building in Fuzhou, China.

She climbed the ledge of a building and contemplated taking her life. However, emergency services used the opportunity to try and rescue her as she hesitated to leap off. As the rescue workers approached her, the woman panicked and ended up slipping from the ledge. Fortunately, she managed to grab the edge of the building, proving that she was also willing to live. One of the rescue workers rushed at her immediately to grab her hands.

Another man appeared from the window below to firmly grab the woman's leg. The rescue workers took all sorts of precautions to pull the woman up and three others appeared to hold onto the woman's lower body through the same window. That was when one of the rescuers in an orange suit, inadvertently pulled down her trousers. He did not hesitate before holding her from the back and preventing her from plummeting to death. The tense rescue operation was filmed and shared on Chinese social media sites, mostly by people who were residents in the opposite building. The woman lived to tell the tale but her story was far from over.

Three months after the mishap, the woman who was trying to end her life revealed that she had fallen in love with one of her rescuers. The firefighter who had accidentally pulled down her trousers while trying to save up ended up tying the knot with the woman. A wedding video showing the happy couple holding hands was circulated on social media too. Further details about their love story were not disclosed to the public and media. However, many Chinese netizens speculated that the woman found the right kind of support when she was in a fragile mental state.

In another example of how firefighters take their jobs seriously, a video documented the valiant efforts of the first responders during the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-finals. The firefighters from the Croatian Fire Department were glued to the television at their station as their country faced off against Russia that year. All of a sudden, the fire alarm at the station started ringing loudly. In a matter of minutes, the firefighters sprang up from their seats, threw on their gears and rolled out. The match continued to play on the TV as the crew on duty drove off the fire engine after switching on the siren. It was only after the vehicles had left the station that the rest of the men shifted their focus back to the match to check what they missed.
