Many people have a wish to be surprised by the people they love in a personal and memorable way. However, it appears that a couple, Finlay McAfee and Salma Saade, is done with surprises for this lifetime after a hilarious experience. The long-distance couple planned to surprise each other on the same day and while it could have been wholesome, it went adorably haywire. Recalling the hilarious incident, Saade posted a screenshot on X, giving us a glimpse of their light-hearted mishap.

Saade texted a man named Adam, likely one of McAfee’s friends, before figuring out the blunder that had taken place. The woman asked Adam whether McAfee was at his flat in Edinburgh. “I’m back a day early and want to surprise him,” she texted. Adam responded with a text that left Saade jaw-dropped. He wrote, “He just flew to Paris. Like, to do the same thing. Literally.” Saade wasn’t ready to believe what she had been told but after much assurance from Adam, she was hysterically wonderstruck at their adorable error. Saade went on to text McAfee to let him know about the dilemma that unfolded. “Please tell me you’re not in Paris,” she wrote.

Beginning to get a little hyper at the situation, Saade sent an all-caps message to McAfee, “COME BACK, I'M HERE. HERE AS IN EDINBURGH NOT PARIS.” She continued to apologize and explain that she was trying to surprise him but it hilariously backfired. “Come back now,” she exclaimed. McAfee responded, “Hahaha. Wow. I’m in Paris.” “I know. Come back,” Saade requested. After accepting the reality, McAfee let his partner know that he just landed in Paris and it would take him a couple of hours before he could try and get back.

Sharing on his social media, McAfee wrote, “Anyone in Paris? Flew in to surprise Salma but she flew back to surprise me and now I’ve got 12 hours to kill.” The hilarious mishap surely taught the couple an adorable lesson and thereon, they decided to quit the mushy surprises. Sharing these silly memories, she wrote in her caption, “Happy 4th anniversary to when I flew to Edinburgh to surprise Finlay and he flew to Paris to surprise me and this is why we don’t do surprises anymore.” People were smitten yet at the same time bawling with laughter at the cute gesture the duo managed to pull.

McAfee even commented on the post and added, “Turns out, we were in Edinburgh Airport at the same time going in opposite directions.” @RAMLCPA wrote, “That just takes incredible skill and commitment! Give yourselves gold stars for at least that.” @Veracityy cautioned, “This is why a third party has to be involved in surprises.” @DoubleGonTV exclaimed, “If we don’t have this kind of love, I don’t want it.” @genes_edinburgh remarked, “So, all the bits we see in movies do actually happen in real life to real people, somewhere.” @OlafSNP hilariously wrote, “This is just beyond words! When's your new romantic dramedy dropping on Netflix?”
