He caught his live-in girlfriend cheating with her ex — so he played it cool for weeks, then used the lease to pull off a silent moving-day revenge

The girlfriend had initially claimed she was visiting family about 373 miles away for a week, only to be caught with her ex boyfriend.

Not everyone responds to broken trust with an outburst; some wait carefully for the right time to speak. A Reddit user narrated a story about a friend who discovered his live-in girlfriend had been unfaithful during a rough phase in their relationship. The post, shared on July 6, 2025, by the user who goes by u/Oldfarts2024, described how the man handled the betrayal in a calm and calculated way. Instead of reacting after catching her with her ex, he stayed silent and planned his next steps, secretly preparing for a moving day as his ultimate revenge.

He eventually used the lease agreement to stage a quiet but firm moving-day exit that left her stunned and without a place to stay. According to the post, the girlfriend had initially claimed she was visiting family about 373 miles away for a week. However, he was shocked when he saw her “having the time of her life on a restaurant patio with her ex.” He took photos as proof and went home without confronting her. Since he was on a month-to-month lease requiring 60 days’ notice and she was not on the lease, he submitted his notice and secured a new place while she was still away.

In the weeks that followed, he remained distant but calm. He mentioned couples therapy without pushing too hard and avoided intimacy, though “frankly, it was not on offer.” She often stayed out late and sometimes said she was sleeping at friends’ places. He simply responded, “OK.” Meanwhile, his landlord, described as a good guy, quietly cooperated. They arranged for potential new tenants to visit only when she was out. Everything was planned without raising her suspicion.

On moving day, a hired crew arrived early and began packing. When she questioned what was happening, he presented copies of the photos. The landlord informed her she had until midnight to remove her belongings as new tenants were arriving in two days. If not, her items would be placed on the curb. The furniture was his, and her clothes and toiletries ended up piled in the main room. The post concluded that “the plan, the execution of it, and his cool demeanor throughout were a legend” among their friends.

Dealing with heartbreak is never easy, especially after discovering a partner has cheated. In another incident, however, a woman chose not to let her boyfriend get away with it so easily. She began posting fake “free” listings online using his phone number, turning his daily life into chaos. One person who responded to an ad later shared, “Not me, but I got involved,” after calling about what seemed like a genuine offer.

The ad offered “45 free layer hens (chickens)” and claimed the owner was “moving for work, must get rid of them quickly.” It later became clear that his ex had created the posts after discovering he was cheating. Whenever he managed to remove one listing, another quickly appeared. “As soon as he gets the post taken down, she posts another with his phone number.” Because it was his work phone, he could not even change it, leaving him stuck with nonstop calls and messages.
