Her date praised his mom nonstop for her sacrifices — then one simple question about her left him speechless
Sacrifices made by women are often preached, but the person behind these sacrifices is often ignored. Instagram user, Teresa Lucia Cornejo (@la_tere_lc) was on a date with a man when he praised the sacrifices his mother had made for her family. However, one question they asked him left him speechless. Sharing the story with their Instagram users on January 27, 2026, they revealed how one question made him ponder the reality.
Cornejo recalled the man often bragging about his mother's sacrifices. He considered his mother to be his favorite person because of her labor. They immediately stopped him in between and asked him what his mom liked doing the most in her free time. The man appeared confused at first and inquired what they meant. They then decided to ask what her favorite color was. He immediately looked baffled, unsure what to say and trying to find a cover-up. Strange how someone didn't even know that much about their own mother. He tried to defend himself by asking if anybody was actually aware of their mother's favorite color, and they corrected him, saying everyone does.
Sharing the story with Instagram users, they wrote, "Y'all aren't curious enough about the women you say you love, and it shows." While the man praised his mother only for her years of hard work, he failed to recognize her needs and dreams. He didn't even know the simplest things about her, and it proved he never saw her as a respectable individual but just an addition they could depend on. However, upon realizing that he never noticed his mother beyond her sacrifice, it became food for thought for many. Cornejo's post gained massive traction, with many users coming forward to share their ideas.
