Online dating has its own share of dilemmas, with matches highlighting unhinged, absurd, and disrespectful expectations. A Reddit user who goes by u/broken-imperfect shared a post on November 11, 2025, revealing that her male manager and coworker thought only men were struggling with the latter. They claimed that they were "unequivocally oppressed" on such platforms and that women clearly had it easier. She immediately told them to show her a "suitable" Tinder date. After swiping past questionable profiles, they finally found someone decent, only to be surprised by his one text minutes later. It instantly changed their minds.

The woman was surprised to hear her co-workers lament how difficult it was for men to find perfect matches on dating sites. They added that for males, things were clearly more challenging compared to females. To counter them, she just gave them a dose of reality. She asked them to look through profiles and pick a nice man for her. They were shocked to see how vulgar and disappointing a majority of the accounts were. Watching them witness the horror, the employee remarked, "Some of my favorite quotes included: 'Why is he holding a gun to his head?' 'Why is he naked?' 'Is... he being intimate with another woman in this picture?' (The answer was yes)," she wrote. Finally, they came across someone who seemed genuine, and she matched with him. 10 minutes later, his first message arrived — "You going to let me f**k?" [sic] the text read.

The duo fell silent after she showed them the message. "They accept that men are their biggest enemies when it comes to online dating," she noted. According to a report by Forbes, 91% of men and 94% of women noted that the dating scene is more challenging than ever. Data from the Pew Research Center showed that people using these platforms are ready to do anything to seem attractive. 71% said it is common for users to lie on profiles to appear more desirable, while 50% noted that fake accounts are created to scam others. 48% said it's not rare to receive sexually explicit texts and images they never asked for.

So there's no room to debate whether males or females have it worse. Commenters agreed that finding a romantic connection online is a task. u/estragon26 commented, "I'm sick of people saying how easy dating must be for women. It's like telling someone who posted a job and got 400 applicants they have it easy." u/Monarc73 summarized the problem, saying, "It's the whole swamp Vs desert problem, I suppose." u/Callous remarked, "They were humbled and quickly, nice work."
