Thrilled for her first date with a Harvard graduate, she met him at 8 p.m. — but the restaurant he chose had her heading home in less than an hour

She arrived early and waited for him outside the restaurant. But his poor choices had her running for the hills.

A first date can be exciting at times. Although minor hiccups can be a usual thing, some other aspects might be considered actual red flags on a date. One woman was surprised to see major flaws on her first date with a man who went to Harvard Business School. The woman, Jezabel, who goes by @jezacat, shared her first date story on TikTok on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and revealed why she chose to leave early from the date. The clip received over 7.5 million views.

"Ladies, even men who went to Harvard Business School are losers," the woman began. "I just went on a first date with a man. He picked the restaurant. I knew that this restaurant was a happening restaurant. But he picked it, and he went to Harvard." The woman wondered if the man knew that the restaurant would need a reservation. She reached the destination before her date and saw that there was a line. Jezabel waited outside the door for him. He showed up and didn't apologize for being late. The man went ahead and asked how long the wait was, and the staff informed him that they were supposed to wait for an hour.

"What should we do?" the man asked after he learned that there was a long wait. "I said, 'I don't know. What do you want to do?'" He suggested that they could wait outside the restaurant if she wanted. The woman pointed out that she didn't really want to wait for an hour. "He goes, 'I don't live in this area. I live 20 minutes away from here. I don't know what to do around here.'" Jezabel explained that if she were in the man's position, she would have taken out her phone and would have looked up a bar nearby to take her date. When she didn't share a solution, the date blurted, "I have very high expectations of you."

He went on to say that she should be good at problem-solving, as she was an attorney. "You should be able to problem-solve. You went to Harvard," the woman retaliated. "I told him that there's a bar over here." But it turned out that the bar was closed. They had walked to the place, and Jezabel expressed that she was out of options. The man decided to look up a restaurant on his phone and found the one the woman had only "dreamed of going to, when I was blacked out drunk." The woman refused to go there and remarked, "No disrespect, I want to go home." Her date was stunned as she walked away and called herself a cab. "The date started at 8 o'clock. It is now 8:43, and I have been home for about 15 minutes."

People supported the woman's decision in the comments section of the video. @glock.cheese_o_ wrote, "I was smiling until you said you called yourself a Waymo. Let’s not support the eradication of working-class jobs by corporations." @julialutz commented, "'I don't live in this area. I actually live 20 minutes away.' But sir, you do live in this area." @elliebretechex remarked, "Time is valuable. If someone shows up late, unprepared, and rude, they have already shown a lack of respect. You have every right to leave."
