Husband realized his postpartum wife’s mood swings posed a ‘danger’ to their newborn — what he decided to do next left her deeply grateful
A new baby can bring joy to a family, but it can also bring serious changes in a mother's mental health. Lifestyle blogger and content creator Ayana Lage recalled a difficult period after giving birth when her husband noticed that her behavior had changed. She was dealing with mood swings, poor sleep, and growing fears that worried him. He became concerned about leaving her alone with their newborn. Lage later shared her experience on TikTok on July 30, 2026, through @ayanagabriellelage. Her husband's response to the situation eventually became something she felt deeply grateful for.

Lage said her husband told her, "I don't think that you should be alone around the baby anymore." She was angry at first, but he had noticed signs that she could not fully recognize herself. In the middle of the situation, he contacted her psychiatrist and explained the changes he had seen. The doctor then took his concerns seriously and warned that the mother might need hospital care if she did not improve. She was eventually admitted, where doctors worked to find the right combination of medicines. After about two and a half weeks, her delusions finally went away.
Lage said her experience could have been very different without quick medical help. She felt supported throughout her treatment and said no one dismissed her symptoms or sent her home without care. Her husband's decision to speak up also gave doctors a clearer picture of what was happening because the content creator was not fully aware of how serious her behavior had become. Getting help early can make a major difference when severe mental health symptoms appear after childbirth. Lage said, "He sensed the danger before anyone else did," describing how important her husband's actions were.
Postpartum psychosis is a serious mental health condition that can cause delusions, hallucinations, confusion, paranoia, and major sleep problems after childbirth. Postpartum Support International says it affects about 1 to 2 women out of every 1,000 deliveries, and symptoms usually begin within the first two weeks after birth. It is considered a medical emergency and needs immediate care. Lage also reflected on how much treatment changed her outcome, saying, "I hate that isn't the case for every mother." Her story highlights why families should take sudden and severe changes seriously after the arrival of a baby.
Having a caring partner is a true blessing, especially after giving birth. This is what another woman was grateful for when her husband noticed how worried she was about returning to work. She was not sure she could leave her baby at daycare once her maternity leave ended. While she tried to prepare herself for the change, her husband quietly looked for a way to give her more time at home. He worked longer hours without telling her why, then surprised her by saying, “I have made the money and put it up for her,” and told her to extend her maternity leave another month.
