Husband told his wife to relax at the beach, promising he’d watch the kids — what he did minutes later broke her trust
Parents know toddlers require constant supervision, especially when they are close to water. But when there is more than one child involved, their caretakers cannot be careful enough. So when Facebook user and mother, Leeann Braun (@leeann.braun), was asked by her husband to rest while he would watch their kids during a beach vacation, she was relieved, but only momentarily. Her husband's actions just minutes later broke her trust in him. Sharing the video with her followers in January 2026, she revealed that although the kids were not harmed, she was taken aback by her husband's behavior.
Facebook creator and young mother @leeann.braun, along with her husband and kids, headed for a beach vacation. A while later, her husband asked her to relax and promised to take care of their kids. However, what happened minutes later shook her. In the video posted by the mother, the kids can be seen with their dad near the shore; however, he is later seen walking away from them, just when they try to get into the water. From the video, the father appears to be taking a little stroll, thinking his kids are safe on their own. Sharing the video, the mother wrote, "No kids were harmed in this video, just my trust." Although the kids' dad had promised to keep an eye on them and asked his wife to rest, he wasn't quite doing what he promised to do. Despite the kids being safe, the video met with a lot of criticism from social media users. Many users criticized the dad for his negligence, while other women resonated with Braun's experience and shared similar anecdotes.
A user named Laura Bowers White wrote, "Haha, all fun and games until you read the stats about fatal accidents to children happening far more frequently when the father is 'watching' them." Another user named Ophelia Matsumoto commented, "Ask my husband to watch the kids while it was my turn to shop. 2 min later, a stranger was watching my 2-year-old sip out of each Stanley cup in the store- 'I think he's thirsty'. Husband was at the register. Damnit, Andrew!" Other social media user Amy Sheats-Mueller wrote, "My husband was supposed to be watching the kids while I was sleeping (I worked night shift and needed to sleep in the day). I woke up to frantic messages from my neighbor letting me know my kids were up on my roof."
Braun's husband fortunately didn't let their kids go missing. However, their story reminds us of the two-year-old boy named Mao Yin, who was abducted in a park when his father turned away for just a few minutes to get water. His mother, Li Jingzhi, dedicated three decades of her life to looking for her son, and miraculously, in 2020, at the age of 32, Mao, who had been raised by another family, was finally reunited with his birth mother. While the Facebook content creator may have shared the video for a light-hearted jest, it also serves as a lesson for parents to be extra vigilant about supervising their children and to be more attentive.
