Little girl asked disabled man what happened to his legs — her brutally innocent response left him laughing in shock
Kids never fail to speak their minds, and sometimes it leaves others unsure whether to laugh or take offense. Instagram user Jia Hao Pan (@jhhfit), a double amputee, was at McDonald's when he noticed a 5-year-old girl staring at him and asking what had happened to his legs. After he informed her that he had "lost" them, her response left him completely off guard. Sharing the hilarious video with his Instagram followers on Friday, May 8, 2026, the man revealed his puzzled reaction to the little girl's sassy response.
Pan noticed a little 5-year-old taking a special interest in his amputated legs. A while later, she came up to him and asked him about them, to which he responded, "I lost them. They are gone. I don't have them anymore." However, her next response made him burst out laughing. Pointing at her own feet, she noted, "Well, I still got mine; you need to do better." Pan, who was completely shocked by her hilarious response, shared the video and wrote, "Parents, please teach your kids to take care of their belongings so they don't lose them! Feet included."
For context, the father of four got into a car accident in 2007 after engaging in high-speed driving. Despite losing his two legs in the tragic accident, Pan used self-deprecating humor to uplift people, inspiring millions online. But kids rarely hold back from being unintentionally sassy. A study published by Ohio State University and featured in ScienceDaily found that children are far more observant than adults. The study noted that while adults detected only 63% of what went on around them, children observed more than 77% of the changes taking place.
After noticing that Pan had no legs, the girl grew curious. But because he responded by saying that he had "lost" them, she interpreted his answer literally and advised him to be more careful with his "belongings." Pan's video made many internet users chuckle, with several people sharing similar experiences in the comments.
@mia.lov_ recounted, "A family friend lost her arm in an accident, and when my 3-year-old found out, she said 'oh no let's go find it' and every time she would see the lady she would sing loudly!.. 'arm where are you?'" @theresajoly mentioned, "When my son was 4, he asked a gentleman with prosthetics on both legs if he was a transformer. He loved the cartoon Rescue Bots and was excited, thinking he had met a Transformer in real life." @baileytribe remarked, "My husband had his left eye removed due to cancer. Kids ask him where it is. He tells them he lost it, so to be on the lookout for it because he'd like to have it back."
