Man called her out for using a disability badge because she didn’t ‘look’ disabled — she turned his own logic against him in one reply
With so many invisible disabilities, it is hard to know who is struggling just from their appearance. That’s why it’s best to mind one’s own business instead of snooping around and questioning others’ health and well-being. A TikTok user who goes by Millie shared an experience under her handle @millieteaa on July 19, 2026, revealing how easily people misjudge others because their looks don’t tell the entire story. However, she didn’t sit quietly. When a man called her out for using a “disability badge” even though she doesn’t “look” like she has issues, she had a fitting reply.
On her TikTok account, Millie has shared her story, explaining that she has a chronic illness as well as a disability that affects her everyday life. She has been in and out of hospitals due to her condition as well. Her limitations are not always visible, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t struggling. The woman was driving and had her disabled badge on when a man decided to comment and call her out, assuming she was just using it as a privilege. He told her she didn’t “look” like she had any problems. “Well, it's lucky they don’t give them out on looks. Otherwise, you would have one and I wouldn’t,” she confidently replied.
The woman drove off after giving him a fitting reply and noted that one shouldn’t shy away from standing up for oneself when called out for no reason. The number of people who are misunderstood and criticized simply because their disability is not visible is upsetting. According to Hidden Disabilities, the Disability and Health Data System (DHDS) by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that around 61 million, or 13%, of people in the United States have a disability. Of these, 10% have invisible disabilities. Around 80% of disabilities cannot always be seen. It doesn’t erase the fact that they are still struggling and need our support.
The report highlighted around 900 disabilities that are invisible, including ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, and others. People living with these conditions already have different symptoms and difficulties to deal with, and criticism from society makes it worse. In Millie's case, it would have cost nothing for the stranger to go on his way without saying anything at all. Commenters agreed that the reply was well-deserved. @ahy_amber94 wrote, “Nothing winds me up more than ignorant people.” @caitlinsarahmary remarked, “Bookmarking this so I can memorize the script.” @azcnm00 added, “10000/10 response. I love your brain.”
