Meeting someone new on a dating app can be a thrilling experience. And it turned out to be even better for a young woman named Felicia Naoum. The person she met online helped her overcome her insecurity about her physique and left her in awe. Naoum shared how a right swipe ended up being a wholesome experience for her on a dating app. She recalled how she was texting a man and thought it was best to let him know she was a “bigger girl.”

The man, however, had a fantastic response to her confession. Naoum shared her experience and said, “The other day, I was texting with a new guy, and I felt the need, like usual, to inform him that I was a bigger girl.” She highlighted that despite being a person who promotes body positivity, she also has moments of insecurity. “I have moments where I'm not in alignment with my own written words. I'm human. I'm as much the reader on the other end looking for familiarity as I am the writer on the front end trying to give it,” she wrote. Naoum added that the man’s words were truly unforgettable.

“He responded with a short phrase of words that shook my soul enough to make me write this. His words moved me. His words, so profound, will probably live in the category of ‘what/who changed my life,’ and never die,” she remarked. The woman simply wrote, “I’m a bigger girl.” To this, the man replied, “A girl is a girl.” Naoum was taken aback by his one phrase that gave her a boost. She couldn’t agree more with his words and also felt the need to encourage others by sharing the same.

“There you have it: A girl is a girl. Yes. Yes. And yes! This man, from internet land, just stripped away the stigma with his phrase. He stripped away insecurity with his phrase. He stripped away doubt with his phrase. And he did all of that while telling me, and now you, to not lessen your credibility in just five words. That's what makes this so profound for me,” Naoum exclaimed. She added that though she didn't know where her journey with him would take her, she was impacted strongly by the man.

As a writer, Naoum added that words are more than enough to leave a mark on a person and the man’s phrase amazingly did the same. Sharing a note of thanks, she wrote, “Yes, new guy, a girl is a girl. Thank you for telling me something I've forgotten. Or may have never known. Thank you for filling me with confidence in a world that loves to fill me with uncertainty because I don't fit a standard.”  She put forth a renewed perspective, thanks to the man’s wise words.
