A man is thanking his little orange cat, Jack, for saving his life. The man named Justin Jones was having a heart attack and had defibrillators attached to his chest when he dropped everything and started thinking about the things he was grateful for. He couldn't help but reminisce about Jack and the course of events changed drastically after that one thought, per a video shared by the man on Instagram, where he goes by @justin_and_jack. The video received over 1.6 million views.

"It's my 48th birthday today and the reason I am here is because of a little orange cat named Jack," the text overlay of the video read. The clip had several snippets of the man and the cat spending time with each other. Jones explained that he was in an emergency room on January 19, 2025, after a heart attack. "I looked up at the monitor and my blood pressure was 224/110 and I asked one of the nurses for my phone because I needed to message people to take care of my cats." It was all the man could think about at that moment. But then one of the nurses started attaching defibrillators to his chest and back and the man felt that he "might be running out of time."

"So I put my phone down and I closed my eyes and I started thinking about Jack and how grateful I was to have experienced his love and this crazy adventure he had taken me on," Jones expressed. He was also grateful for finding his purpose and thought about his audience and how their love for his cats had changed his life. "I whispered out loud, 'thank you.' And then I heard the nurse by my side say, 'Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it.'" The man opened his eyes, looked up and noticed that his blood pressure had gone down to 150/94. He told the nurse, "I was just being thankful for the experience." The nurse wheeled the man into surgery with tears in her eyes.

So, on his 48th birthday in April, the man expressed his gratitude for his cat. "I continue to this day, being so very grateful, for the love of a little orange cat, named Jack. (I am making a full recovery and feel stronger and have more energy than I have had in 20 years.)" People shared their thoughts on the touching bond between the man and his cat in the comments section of the video. @fluffyandthetabbycat wrote, "I think you have all of us crying. Happy Birthday! Some people don’t understand the power of our fur babies, but we are so glad you do! Hope you have the best year ever!"

@bibimonnahan commented, "I am taking care of a little orange kitty that was attacked. He’s been to the vet seven times. His bandages are off and he’s hiding now as I write this underneath my bed. I give him his meds and talk to him softly. I wish he knew that all would be okay. I haven’t been able to pet or hold him yet. I named him Clifford after my vet. Perhaps you can say a prayer for him." @mamacoo4u remarked, "I'm crying and I have never even seen one of your posts before today. Happy belated birthday and may God bless you and your sweet Jack with a long and fruitful life!" In an update, Jones shared the moment he thought of with his cat that saved his life and made him feel peaceful and loved.
