Man with aggressive brain cancer used treatment money to buy a ring to propose to girlfriend—ends up receiving surprise of a lifetime
A 27-year-old diagnosed with brain cancer decided to do something special with his treatment money. The man, Brett Fine Jr., had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. So he received a financial award from the "This Time Tomorrow Foundation," started by singer Jay Allen. But instead of using the money for his treatment, Fine decided to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Alyssa Kempf. He proposed to her in a special way and then the couple got a big surprise from Allen himself, per an Instagram post by the singer, who goes by @jayallenmusic on the platform. The video received over 28,400 views.
In the video, Allen serenaded the couple with his new song "This Time Tomorrow" as they sat facing each other. Fine was wearing a suit while Kempf was wearing a beautiful black dress. They exchanged glances and held hands throughout the video. At the end, Allen gave both of them a big hug. He also shared the couple's story through the post's caption. "She said yes! Brett is only 27 and was diagnosed with incurable glioblastoma brain cancer. He was recently given a financial gift from @thistimetomorrowfoundation, so he decided to buy a ring and propose to Allyssa on a lake in Indiana, surrounded by family and friends."
In the comments, Kempf said, "Thank you so much for everything! It was so nice to meet you!" Many people wished the couple the best in the comments section of the video. @tmariejade shared, "Stay strong. Glioblastoma sounds like a death sentence, but it isn't. You can beat cancer. My brother was diagnosed with the same cancer and had two brain surgeries. He beat the cancer and lived for over 16 years after that diagnosis. He sadly passed away last year due to another health issue that he had. He was only supposed to live for a few months after his diagnosis. The doctors said that he was a walking miracle. Sending love to you both. Such a beautiful couple."
@jocelynchoong remarked, "Congratulations on your engagement! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness. May god heal and restore your health. God is mighty, powerful and faithful." @shelwest1 commented, "My stepdad proposed to my mom after he was given 6 months to live due to cancer. Told her he wanted to spend the rest of his days with her. She said yes. A couple of months after they married, his cancer went into remission...the power of love is an amazing thing...I witnessed it! @jode.p1968 shared, "I'm battling stage four inoperable NSCLC. When your mortality slaps you in the face, everything you do is now done with purpose. You go, young man. You have the wedding of your dreams to help plan. Stay strong."
Fine, who goes by @brettfine21 on the platform, shared photos from the couple's lakeside proposal. Many of their friends and family members were present to witness their big moment as well. The caption read, "Can’t wait to call you my Mrs. Fine. Until forever." In a Facebook post, Allen pointed out that he had released the song, "This Time Tomorrow 17" and set up the "This Time Tomorrow Foundation" to help individuals and families fighting cancer. People could support the initiative by listening to the song and the proceeds would be used to give financial support to the patients.
