Married man kept pushing for her number at a bar after she refused — then she set one condition that made him walk away instantly
Some people fail to respect boundaries but only learn their lessons when they are called out. X user Remi (@Miss_Oluremi) was out on a solo date when a married man couldn't stop hitting on her. He kept pushing her for her phone number despite her refusal; however, one condition she put forth made him walk away immediately in shame. Sharing the story with her X followers on March 23, 2026, the woman shared how she will never stop using this trick until men stop bothering her.
I was bored and my boyfriend sent me money to take myself out. I was having a nice time at the restaurant with my friend on call with me.

A man sat on the empty seat in front of me, asking for my contact, I refused. He then said he's married and he just wants me to be his…
X user Remi was bored, hence her boyfriend sent her money to take herself out. As she was having a great time talking to her friend on a call at a restaurant, she was approached by a man who nagged her to give him her contact. While she refused, he assured her that he was married and just wanted her to be friends with him. That's when she put forth a condition; she asked him that she'd be his friend if he paid for everything she bought that day. He immediately stood up and walked away. "I won't stop asking these men for money or pay the bills if that is what would let them leave me alone," she wrote.
According to the Lafourche Gazette, making another individual uncomfortable is where one must draw the line. No means no; pushing someone when they are not ready is equal to harassment. The report notes that whatever the outcome may be, it is essential for individuals to respect others' boundaries. "We need to verbally honor what they say because setting boundaries is so vulnerable and humiliating for some people. Be the one who listens and affirms them, even if you may disagree with their choice," the report noted.
Additionally, a 2014 nationally representative survey in the United States found that 65% of women reported having experienced some form of street harassment in their lives, compared with 25% of men, and many women also reported being physically harassed, such as being followed, flashed, or touched without consent. In the X user's case, the man, despite being married, tried to pursue the woman. He may have presumed that trapping her in the idea of friendship would give him a chance at her, but the woman luckily made the smart move, which ultimately made him walk away.
Soon after her post went viral, many users shared their thoughts on it. @IBUILD01 wrote, "You did great...what a shameless man he is and a total disgrace to the married men...how are you a married man and still asking another woman to be your friend? Useless men out there." @MrEazi105419 commented, "The annoying thing there is that he's even a married man. That's a disrespect to his wife and to you also, asking you to be his friend even after mentioning to you that he's married." @houseofabiola shared, "There's a colleague of mine that one of our married patients is always asking to taking out whenever she's off duty. Recently, my colleague asked him to assist her financially for school fee and that was the end of his calling. He blocked her."
